Job Overview
The Small Enterprise Development Agency is seeking a skilled individual to join our team as a Covid-19 Infection Control Officer. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail and a strong understanding of infection control protocols.
In this position, you will be responsible for screening all visitors, contractors, and employees before they enter the National Office. Your primary goal will be to help prevent the spread of infection by identifying individuals who may be carrying the virus.
Key Responsibilities
- Screen all visitors, contractors, and employees for cold, flu, and respiratory symptoms before entering the facility.
- Use a no-contact thermometer to check the temperature of all visitors, contractors, and employees.
- Record the results of each visitor, contractor, and employee who are not permitted on property and submit them to the Branch Manager.
- Enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at facility entrances.
- Determine whether or not to allow entrance into the workplace.
- Maintain a log of employees and visitors who refuse the temperature check or refuse to answer questions and provide it to the Branch Manager.
- Comply with all designated safety policies and procedures, including wearing company-provided PPE in the work area.
- Participate in required COVID-19 training classes, covering topics such as screening, PPE, safe work practices, and proper hygiene.
- Monitor the stock level of masks, thermometer covers, and working conditions of thermometers, etc.
Requirements
- Must have a Matric certificate (NQF level 4) plus a Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or Nursing and Paramedic.
- A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in a medical healthcare/office/facility and clinical environment, or in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Ability to start immediately and commit five days a week, with working hours Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:45 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30.
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments.
- Ability to wear PPE, including goggles, gloves, respirator/face mask, Tyvek suit/coveralls/gown as required.
- Recommended skills include symptom recording, team working, collections, responsibility, professionalism, strong communication, and reliability.
