The Digital Academy focuses on creating innovative digital products in Africa. Launched in response to a frustrating lack of digital skills on the continent, our vision is to create opportunities for youth through incentive-based learning with strategic corporate partners who share a common vision. Our interns learn practical, hands-on development skills that are needed in the real world whilst building commercial-facing products via a rapid internship programme.

**Duties**

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Mentor and support learners to achieve a theoretical and practical understanding of modern data science practices
- Implementing data-science solutions to fulfil clients' requirements.
- Leading and managing learners
- Reporting to management on the progress of the products and development of the learners.
- Where appropriate, act as the representative between non-technical business owners and internal and external suppliers of IT Services.
- Ensure timely resolution of customer issues by referring issues to product or service specialists

**Criteria**

**Essential**
- 1-3+ years of relevant experience in the Data Science industry
- Experience with Python, PowerBI (Or similar), SQL and NoSQL
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern data science techniques.
- Demonstrated experience developing data science solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a productive team member, within an environment where there are time constraints and the pressure of project deliverables
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders and ensure an engaged, productive team and client culture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to contribute effectively in / and facilitate meetings, write clear and precise user stories, packaged releases, and technical documentation.
- A clear understanding of how to work in an agile environment using SCRUM principles
- Passion for teaching others

- Experience working with Power BI
- Experience with SAS
- Experience with Python Jupyter IDE
- Experience with Postgresql and MongoDB
- Experience with Data Warehousing
- Experience with Machine learning
- Experience with TensorFlow

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
