**Steel Material, Cutting and Parts Controller.**
- The Steel Material, Cutting, and Parts Controller (MPC) is responsible for the functioning of the GSV steel material, cutting process and cut parts section.
- The section consists of a Laser and a High Definition cutting machines.
- The machines cut all the flat steel parts required by GSV vehicle builds.
- Once the design phase for a specific vehicle armouring kit has been completed by utilizing the board part templates or template tracing machine the specific armoured parts required for that vehicle build is complete and identified.
- The process of supplying special armour parts for an armour vehicle build is a very important and specialized procedure. Apart from the accuracy involved the correct armoured grade and required thickness of the material will ensure that the required level of protection is achieved.
- GSV is in process of installing a new high performance laser cutting machine. The parts supply and processing of material with this machine would be updated and modernized to ensure that the supply process will be on a high standard.
- The process will follow the following pathway:

- The vehicle carton templates are made.
- These templates should be marked and numbered.
- A layout picture should be taken inside the vehicle using the GSV camera.
- The templates are then taken to a tracing board. A pdf drawing is derived from this process.
- From this point the drawing obtained must be changed into a DXF file and sent to the SIGMANEST program where the correct DXF file of the part will be nested onto the correct and required material sheet for cutting the parts.
- On the completion of the cutting process of the parts they will be individually marked with the original template number found on the original photo layout.
- A clear copy of the specific layout in A4 format will be supplied with the numbered and painted parts to the specific vehicle bay that the parts were cut for.
- The material type and cast number should also accompany the parts so that the build book can reflect where the material used originated from. This process is for traceability purposes should a material failure occur.
- The documents required must be completed and timeously placed onto record in the build book file.

This is the overall process that should be followed and may have where required extra steps in the relevant pathway.
- In the event where a supplied part that was cut, marked, painted, and delivered to the relevant vehicle build bay is found to be incorrect a red flag procedure should be raised. A specific non-conformance schedule should be completed to identify and describe the part, the specific build that it was going to be used and any further information that will aid the investigation.
- The PM (Production Manager) will undertake the investigation and ensure that a corrective path will be undertaken to ensure accuracy of the part and where it fits into the vehicle. This is a very important process and should be undertaken to bring about the required revision change to the part to ensure that when it is cut again the fault is fully eliminated. In the history at GSV this problem was not bench marked so the same problem has been appearing again from time to time. The rectification of the specific problem should be taken very seriously as it delays completion of the vehicle and therefore also increases cost.
- The process of using templates to start the first build on a specific vehicle model is right at the beginning of the process. All templates should be marked and the date of creation for which vehicle in which bay should be recorded and brought under configuration control. This would mean that should a similar vehicle be booked in for a new up-armouring vehicle build these templates can be reused to check if the parts created originally are still relevant and will fit into the vehicle cab.

Should there be a difference the relevant part can be revised to fit for this new vehicle.

The drawing file and the DXF file created for this part should be revised to a new revision level. This configuration will then be in use for the new specific vehicle build. All template sets must be clearly marked and stored for future use and reference.
- The usage of different grades of material should be monitored as the process continues and when stock levels become low management must be notified to place orders for new material.
- Forward planning for material usage should be undertaken with the planning of the Production Manager (PM) and the Workshop Manager (WM).
- The pre-ordering of material to be on time as the cutting process should never run out of material.
- The planning of the different grades of armour should be in accordance with the historical material usage per known vehicle build.
- There will be ad-hoc tasks issued by management when the need is required.
