**About the Climate Justice Coalition**:
The Climate Justice Coalition is a coalition of South African trade unions, grassroots, community and non-profit organisations. It is working on advancing a transformative climate justice agenda, which works to tackle inequality, poverty, and unemployment. The coalition advocates for a vision of climate justice which advances environmental, energy, gender, racial, climate, and economic justice together. The coalition aims to advance the struggle for climate justice using a combination of litigation, advocacy, education, training, mobilising, organising, campaigning, and non-violent direct action. The coalition's strength lies in our diversity both in terms of our member base and in terms of bringing together our different tactics to collectively advance climate justice.
The coalition is led by a secretariat and steering committee and has a diverse array of members working on a variety of social, labour, health, environmental, energy, education, gender, human rights, and climate justice issues. You can view a list of members on our website: ClimateJusticeCoalition.org. The coalition meets as a full coalition once a month. We also work through task team structures. We currently have four different task forces focused on energy and mining justice, legal advocacy, economic justice, and communications. Education is also a cross-cutting responsibility of the coalition.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Social Media**
- Implement social media plans for the coalition, including for events, days of actions and campaigns;
- Regularly post and facilitate online conversations in social media that helps the organisations' social media fans, friends and followers transition from being an audience to a coalition stakeholder.
**Digital Support**
- Coordinate and implement a variety of web and design projects
- Implement and monitor digital strategy/digital organising strategy to support coalition work and campaigns
- Monitor and develop petitions created and managed by the coalition and its members, and support the coalition to increase sign-on and implement strategic deliveries.
- Managing activities on our coalition platforms to ensure that the coalition's audience is connected both online and offline
- Coordinate live coverage and report back of campaign events
- Develop and manage a coalition website, and keep it updated with relevant information about coalition activities and campaigns.
**Communications Support**
- Feed coalition member stories into national communications and narrative.
- Develop, support, and work alongside a list of spokespersons in the coalition.
- Write press releases, media statements, and articles such as opinion pieces in collaboration with coalition members.
- Coordinate with photographers and videographers to produce high-quality multimedia for the coalition.
- The coalition hosts a podcast, Just Us and the Climate. The specialist would help us develop, advertise and run the podcast, including potentially hosting episodes.
