**Job Advert Summary**:
To perform sampling and assist in sample handling and management, and laboratory maintenance. To work as part of the team and provide support to the laboratory in order to meet its compliance objectives.

**Specific Operational Requirements**
- May be required to work overtime to meet the business needs.
- Must be prepared to work shifts/weekends/public holidays when needed.

**Specific SHE Requirements**
- Pre-employment, routine, and exit medicals are compulsory due to the nature of the business
- Attendance to SHE-related training is mandatory.
- Adherence to SHE Instructions (Waste Segregation, Water and Energy Saving Initiatives)
- Compliance with SHE Site Rules is compulsory.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Matric with maths and science
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- One year of work experience (prior exposure and work experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing field and/or work experience in a quality control environment).
- Knowledge of cGMP principles and Quality Assurance would be an added advantage

Preferred:
Appropriate tertiary qualification in science, quality, or pharmaceutical field.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:**
Sampling**

Perform sampling of raw materials, in-process samples, and end products (where necessary) by:

- Following the appropriate procedures/practice.
- Receiving and storing samples in the appropriate containers and the correct locations/conditions.
- Maintain retention samples as per procedure
- Process samples and results in LIMS

**Sample management**

Receive laboratory samples and manage the samples in the laboratory (as specified in the QC program and relevant procedures).
- Receive and inspect samples according to relevant procedures.
- Allocate bin location/s to samples.
- Check and complete RFA and receive samples in LIMS.
- Submit RFA to QC Admin Assistant.
- Prepare and despatch samples to contract laboratories.
- Maintain retention samples as per procedure
- Discard old samples appropriately as per instruction and in accordance with relevant procedures.

**Equipment maintenance**

Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment
- Clean equipment following the appropriate procedures/practice.
- Update logbooks accordingly.
- Assist with monitoring maintenance and calibration programs for laboratory equipment
- Report observations to the responsible Analyst or to the Head of QC.

**Laboratory maintenance**

Perform routine general laboratory maintenance.
- Assist in keeping the lab clean and tidy at all times.
- Clean various laboratory glassware immediately after use.
- Assist in keeping the fridges, freezers, water baths, and incubators neat and tidy at all times.
- Recording and maintenance of temperature records for refrigerators and incubators, advising senior staff of any adverse findings.

**QC stores system maintenance**

Maintain QC stores inventory (a receipt of consumables, checking, sorting, reporting, and assisting with the stock management control system).
- Receive QC stores materials and store them in relevant locations.
- Check QC stock of consumables and order replacement stock when appropriate.
- Check the stocks of in-house standards routinely and record stocks in standards stock sheets.
- Inform senior staff of any shortages of supplies that become apparent.
- Inform senior staff of late deliveries and follow up with stores.

**Quality management**

Ensure GMP/GLP is followed at all times
- Ensure all tasks ad functions are performed in compliance with GMP.
- Monitors maintenance and calibration programmes for the laboratory
- Ensure operational compliance by management of non-compliance through review of root cause analysis and implementation of required corrective action within agreed timeframes.

**Administrative support**

Perform any required administrative tasks in keeping with the smooth running of the department
- Process RFAs in LIMS and file accordingly.
- Open product files
- Act as a back-up for the QC Admin Assistant for selected functions such as
- Processing contract lab results in LIMS and file accordingly.
- Creating requisitions in SAP for urgent QC orders.
- Creating plant maintenance requests for urgent equipment breakdowns
- Updating logbooks accordingly.
