Who are we?
Sanlam Developing Markets [SDM] (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans. In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focusses on retail products, as well as group schemes. What will you do?

Preparation of new business reports including updating of forecasts and budget
Preparation of month end journals
Preparation of monthly reconciliation between general ledger and reports/schedules
Preparation of sales staff payroll reconciliations for the distribution channels.
Indirect commission & incentives calculations
Preparation and updating of overrider schedules
Updating debt balances and maintaining debt schedules
Adhoc work relating to indirect sales remuneration, debt balances, bad debt provisions & new business reporting
Liaise with Broker Support, Payroll and internal & external audit

Qualification & experience

B.Com. Accounting (or similar degree or diploma with financial accounting as a major) is essential.
Preferable 3-4 years’ experience in a similar capacity within Finance
Experience in the financial industry will be advantageous

Knowledge and skills

Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential.
Proficiency in SAP is preferable.
