Research Nurse

**Main purpose of the job**:

- Coordinate the evaluation of recruited participants in the different studies and assist other nurses in their daily work

**Location**:

- **Bara Cardiology, Chris Hani Baragwanath New Nurses Home, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- To do study-related duties as specified by the protocol
- Conduct home visits if need be
- Assess and recognize respiratory illnesses in participants
- Compile study progress reports on the number of participants enrolled and activities performed
- Establish a working relationship with clinic nurses/staff
- Follow-up participants who fail to attend their study visits
- Collect specimens from participants
- Ensure that all participants, parents/caregivers have signed informed consent forms
- Attend and resolve queries that are generated by data management staff
- Do proper filing of results and any other study-related documents in the relevant assigned place

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Grade 12**:

- **Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse**:

- **GCP Training**:

- **Driver’s license and ability to drive**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **2 years experience in a research field as an Enrolled Nurse**:

- **Ability to draw and process blood samples**

**Professional body registration**:

- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Ability to lead and work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary team
- A friendly, informal attitude with excellent people skills
- Ability to speak in local languages
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to adapt to changing environment within the project needs
