**Main purpose of the job**:

- To design, implement and facilitate research projects, analyze the Qualitative Research data and participate in publishing scientific articles informed by the research outputs

**Location**:

- **VIDA - New Nurses Home, CHBAH, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Identify study participants as set out in the study population described in the study protocol
- Schedule qualitative interviews with the study population at least one week in advance
- Conduct qualitative interviews with relevant study participants as per outlined study sampling criteria
- Check and transcribe interview data within three working days of data collection
- Perform thematic analysis in line with project requirements within two working days from transcription
- Draft and submit a thematic report of data analysis on a weekly basis to your line manager
- Conduct Literary reviews as and when required
- Support Senior Researcher with all qualitative research-related activities as and when required
- Keep and maintain records of all interviews in relevant study files on a weekly basis
- Submit project status report on a weekly basis to your line manager
- Communicate with donor representatives around compliance issues as and when required
- Build and maintain authentic relationships with all stakeholders ensuring that all interactions are professional
- Effectively manage work processes in order to maintain high levels of productivity
- Actively and consistently maintain high standards of professionalism in all aspects of personal presentation and delivery
- Follow through to ensure that productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained
- Provide appropriate resolution for tasks or deadlines not met
- Support and drive the organization’s core values
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Respond openly to feedback
- Take ownership of driving your own career development

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Degree in Sociology or Anthropology or a related field**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **2 years experience working in a social science research environment**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to work extended hours
- Willingness to travel
- Openness to working in rural areas
- Deadline driven
- Must be able to work without supervision
- Must be willing to contribute towards publications
- Advanced computer literacy with an emphasis on working with NVivo
