You will have the primary responsibility and authority for the Quality Control. This will be achieved by actively driving the Quality Control systems and processes within the organisation. You shall provide the direction and support for the quality control team in meeting this requirement.

**Quality Control Requirements**

Your responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:

- The implementation, maintenance and ongoing updating of the quality control systems and processes in line with the latest versions of:

- ISO22000 Food Safety guidelines
- SANS 10049
- GFSi Intermediate Audit requirements

As well as company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring timeous issuing of production batch documentation to planning and stores, in order to facilitate production processes.
- Ensuring all IPQC (in-process quality checks) are conducted timeously.
- Ensuring all line opening and line closing tasks are completed timeously, to support quick production changeover times.
- Ensuring that the testing and release of materials is conducted timeously upon receipt.
- Ensuring the testing and release of finished products is done timeously for dispatch.
- Quality Control sign off for final product release.
- Ensuring companywide awareness and compliance with the Quality Policy.
- Conducting daily production walk abouts to check on compliance with quality requirements.
- Completing staff training in line with the current training matrixes and ensuring all staff training is up to date.
- Identify training requirements for new staff and ensure staff competence prior to being assigned job tasks.
- Identity re-training requirements as a result of NCRs or Internal audit findings and ensure that this is carried out.
- Training of all staff in line with the companys Quality and Food Safety Culture plan.
- Completing internal audits in line with the annual internal audit plan and ensuring that all internal audits are up to date.
- Completing corrective action reports for audit findings.
- Tracking of Internal Audit findings to monitor trends.
- Completing all non-conformance reports for non-conformities.
- Maintain the NCR Register
- Investigation and completion of all customer complaints.
- Liaise with external and internal parties
- Identify areas for improvement
- Monitor customer complaint trends
- Conducting validation studies as required for equipment and processes.
- Ensuring all equipment and/or processes where relevant are validated prior to use in the factory
- Maintaining the retention sample program, including the collection and storage of retention samples.
- Monitoring the shelf-life testing program in line with Guidelines and our internal policies.
- Ensuring staff compliance with the foreign body control program.
- Updating relevant sections of the Quality Objectives tracker, as agreed with your manager.
- Compiling monthly quality reports for management, as agreed with your manager.

**Food Safety Requirements**

You shall have the following responsibilities:

- You shall serve as a member of the companys Food Safety Team.
- You shall take minutes at the Food Safety meetings, finalise and distribute the minutes.
- As a member of the Food Safety team, you shall be an integral part of the team completing the HACCP Study as required in terms of company procedures.
- You shall compile information / reports for the management review meeting as agreed with your manager.

**External Requirements**

Your responsibilities shall include:

- Being part of the audit team for all external audits, including certification and surveillance audits, and customer audits.
- Compiling information for New Supplier approvals, in line with the company policies and procedures.
- Conducting external supplier audits and ensuring these are up to date.
- Ensuring current copies of all supplier certificates, as required in terms of the FSMS are available.
- Ensuring outsourced services are up to date e.g., Pest Control, Maintenance, Calibrations.

**Staff development and training**

You shall have the following responsibilities for your direct reports:

- Training and mentoring of staff reporting to you.
- Direct report staff performance management.

**General**

You shall carry out any reasonable instruction from your superiors, not contained in the job description.
