**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
To deliver Domestic and International insights (Leisure, Business Events, Destination Management and Develoment, etc) that will help ensure that the organisation achieve its annual and organisational 5 year strategy and Annual plans. Prepare relavant monthy, quaterly and Annual reports and relavant presentation.

**Analyse performance statistics, and industry research data**:

- Collect and analyse data on tourism industry and market business performance on regular basis as per the requirements
- Analyse data against specific research objectives
- Analyse data related to tourist behaviour, trade landscapes, industry/competitive trends, etc.
- Generate routine reports according to pre-defined standards
- Create timely reports of the knowledge management in which all the information (or data) regarding the research, findings, insights, and analysis is stored and managed
- Communicate and report routine tracking information to the relevant internal and external stakeholders, in a timely and efficient manner

**Insigts**:

- Develop detailed and complete markets insights that will help optimise organisations marketing and sales operation.
- Own the delivery of insights and business intelligence internal clients (Business units) and make recommendations that will ensure the organisation achieves overall organisational annual and 5-year target.
- Monitor and track, on an ongoing basis, the performance of markets against its KPI as detailed in each annual business plan and highlight any deviation and suggest corrective measures.
- Understand business units requirements and advice the team with the best way to fulfil these with data and tools available in the organisation.
- Ensuring that market execution plans and market strategy **efforts** are in line with organisational mandate.
- Collect benchmarking insights among our key competitor destinations for comparison and learning purposes.

**Insights Innovation**:

- Form part of the regional research projects across the region in order derive meaningful insights.
- In close collaboration other team members, analyse and provide relevant insights that explains some of the trends for the routine reports.
- Continue to look for new and innovative ways that will empower the organisation with cutting edge insights for the region.
- Collect customer product consumption in market by analysing and interpreting multiple data sources to derive meaningful and actionable insights.

**Continuous Improvement of the research initiatives**:

- Identify Improvement Areas: Identify and communicate the areas to improve the functioning of the unit to the Analytics Lead
- Data Maintenance: Ensure that data files conform to the agreed structure
- Ensure that the data is stored appropriately
- Compile and archive/document research intelligence data for its effective utilisation
- Stay updated with the modern-day research methodologies, training/workshops
- Keep up to date a wide knowledge bank of tourism trends, tourists behaviour, and various segmentations (for instance, business, leisure etc.) present in the industry and use them for research process in the organization
- Evaluate survey data according to pre-defined standards
- Self-check and peer-review the data for logic, quality, and accuracy based on trends and patterns
- Oversee the progress made on surveys and ensure conformance to project plans and data accuracy standards
- Support teammates in the analytics and research operations

**Stakeholder Engagement and Communication**:

- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to promote the Gauteng brand through collaboration and partnerships with other GTA staff
- Communicate and engage countries and regions on strategic directions and decisions taken by the business.

**Project management**:

- Project management of Insights Activators, Consumer Segmentation, Trade Research and other ad-hoc market research initiatives.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, or a related quantitative field

Knowledge and understanding of:

- Relevant certification in insights
- Government priorities and imperatives
- Legislation and regulations that govern the Public Service e.g. the Public Service Act
- The PFMA and regulations, and other relevant legislation e.g. the National Strategic Intelligence Act; the National Archives of South Africa Act; the Promotion of Access to Information Act
- Performance monitoring, evaluation and reporting frameworks, systems and processes
- Relevant legislation and regulatory requirements namely PFMA, Treasury Regulations and Frameworks on performance information and strategic plans
- King 3 principles
- Communications and information management legislative requirements.
