Quality Supervisor - Germiston - Job ID 3583

Our client provides a wide range of products and services to the steel industry in South Africa from their modern and comprehensive steel service centres and specialty steel divisions. They are looking to appoint an Operations Manager to plan, direct, co-ordinate and execute the operations at the branch in full.

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Supervisor will supervise the Quality Inspectors and Quality Checker in their daily functions and ensure that process audit, customer complaints, supplier claims, corrective action requests and calibrations are attended to.

Reports to: Quality Control Manager

Primary purpose: Supervise Quality Inspectors and Quality Checker in their daily functions and ensure that process audit, customer complaints, supplier claims, corrective action requests and calibrations are attended to.

Key performance areas (duties & responsibilities):
Perform Process Audits on all processes.

Tracking of quality performance

Stop production if quality standards are not met.

Ensure that Supplier claims are properly presented and followed up open claims with the supplier mill.

Ensure that Corrective Action Request are raised for internal and external non-conformances, followed, and promptly closed.

Monitoring work progress to ensure that deadlines are met and that quality standards are upheld.

Training employees on company policies and procedures, including safety measures and ethics policies.

Monitoring and reporting on employee productivity to ensure that goals are being met.

Ensure that Continuous Improvements are properly documented and implemented.

Customer complaints are investigated, and feedback given within in the agreed time frame.

Ensure that all measuring equipment is properly calibrated as per requirements.

Academic qualifications:
Must have a Matric / Grade 12 qualification.

Preferable a certificate in ISO 9001: 2015 standard / internal auditing or studying towards a Quality qualification.

VDA6.3 2016 Certified Auditor (with auditor card) will be advantageous.

Tertiary qualification in Production / Quality Management advantageous.

**Experience**:
Auditing and Analysing information.

Problem solving, audits, tracking and reporting.

Working with numbers and numerical/mathematical concepts.

Must have at least 3 years working experience within a production environment.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Must be figure orientated.

Must be able and understand technical drawings.

Must be self-motivated and work without supervision and have good English communication skills.

Must be prepared to work shifts.

Must be able to use all types of measuring equipment correctly.

Methodical and well organized with the ability to maintain accurate records.

Must be a proficient user of Microsoft word, Power point, Microsoft Excel, electronic mail dairy system.

Must have good knowledge of flat bars and round bars products: steel defects, product specifications, standards, tolerances, and good knowledge of Peeling, Reeling and Eddy Current inspection and defects. Good eye sight required.

Must be able to work under pressure.
