Duties/Pligte

Recruiting and screening participants for research studies;
Collecting and sending information requested by patients and clinicians;
Data entry and database management;
The statistical analysis of data;
Writing study protocols;
Writing and publishing scientific peer-reviewed manuscripts;
Poster/verbal presentations at local and international conferences;
Communication liaison between co-investigators, nurses, research assistants, administrators, patients/participants of the studies, radiographers, clinicians, and the media;
Administrating IQ test (WASI), performing computer tasks during fMRI scanning, CANTAB and E-prime tasks during behavioural testing.

Hantering van alle inkomende oproepe (bv. sifting van studie deelnemers), e-pos en ander navrae;
Insameling en uitstuur van inligting aan pasiënte en klinici;
Die invoer van data en die bestuur van databasisse;
Die statistiese analise van data;
Die skryf van studieprotokolle;
Die skryf en publikasie van artikels vir wetenskaplike eweknie-beoordeelde publikasies;
Plakkaat / mondelinge aanbiedings by plaaslike en internasionale konferensies;
Kommunikasie en skakeling met medenavorsers, verpleegsters, navorsingsassistente, administrateurs, pasiënte / deelnemers aan die studies, radiografiste, dokters, en die media;
Administrasie van IK-toets (Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence, of WASI), uitvoer van rekenaartake tydens fMRI skandering, "CANTAB" en "E-prime" take tydens gedragstoetsing.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

An Honours degree (in Psychology) or an equivalent qualification;
Experience with MRI procedures;
Knowledge or experience with research in the field of psychiatry or psychology;
Good verbal and written command of Afrikaans and English;
A valid driver's license and own transport (as the job requires regular travel, also after hours, between Tygerberg campus and the scan centre at UCT);
Knowledge or experience using SPSS and/or Excel, and using PC software such as MATLAB, Presentation and E-Prime.

Honneursgraad (in Sielkunde) of gelykwaardige kwalifikasie;
Ervaring met magnetiese resonansiebeelding (MRB) prosedures;
Kennis of ervaring van navorsing in die veld van psigiatrie of sielkunde;
Goeie mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede in Afrikaans en Engels;
'n Geldige rybewys en eie vervoer (aangesien die pos gereelde reis, soms na-ure, tussen Tygerbergkampus en die MRB-sentrum by die Universiteit van Kaapstad behels);
Kundingheid of ervaring van SPSS en/of Excel, en die gebruik van PC sagteware soos MATLAB, Presentation en E-Prime.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

Master's degree (in Psychology) or an equivalent qualification;
Experience in writing and publication of scientific peer-reviewed manuscripts;
Knowledge or experience with designing and managing websites using WordPress web software;
Knowledge or experience with imaging analysis software packages such as FSL, SPM, AFNI, or FreeSurfer;
Knowledge or experience with administering the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence;
Knowledge or experience in data management;
Familiar with Stellenbosch University's plagiarism policy.

Meestersgraad (in Sielkunde) of gelykwaardige kwalifikasie;
