Head of Operations: Food Laboratories

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Developing, optimizing, enabling, and managing the laboratory's product portfolio to ensure adherence to the brand promise of providing certainty to customers.
- Driving operational efficiency and maximizing profitability for all NviroTek’s Food laboratory units.
- Ensure that laboratory output (quality, format of output, and turnaround times) of different disciplines are within agreed parameters and strive to improve it.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management, compliance, and quality management framework and strategy within the guidelines of the shareholder’s policies and requirements of SANAS (the South African National Accreditation System), OSH Act and other relevant legal requirements pertaining to operational compliance.
- Responsible for assisting with annual budgeting and monitoring thereof.
- As member of the executive management team of the group, responsible for the strategic direction of the company.
- Facilitate research and development projects.
- National Higher Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Food Science, Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related disciplines.
- Training in laboratory management, operations, quality management, or related areas will receive preference.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in product /operations management, or related roles, preferably in a scientific environment within the agricultural or food industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing an accredited, multi-discipline commercial laboratory/ group of laboratories.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at various levels.
