Matriculation Exemption with Maths
- Tertiary: Technical qualification advantageous.
- At least 1 year as an operator in a manufacturing/conversion environment.
- Must be proficient on all the conversion machines, as well as to have knowledge on products, workflow, systems, ISO procedures, picking stock and GIM knowledge.
- Enumerate and accurate.
- Aptitude for figures, details and paperwork
- Unendorsed Code 8 or 10 Drivers license and valid PDP,
- Physical strength - a job requirement is that the incumbent must be able to lift a 36kg roll of material and place onto a machine/pallet or into a vehicle etc
- Willingness and ability to be trained in other areas of Operations.
- To stop any job should such operation be unsafe or deliver inferior quality products. To inform the supervisor.

**ACCOUNTABILITY & RESPONSIBILITY**:

- For quality, throughput, housekeeping and safety in the workstations and the operations area and meet required deadlines on all jobs.
- Responsible for ensuring that the goods arrive at the customer safely and timeously and that the appropriate proof of delivery is obtained and payment collected for COD’s in accordance with the ISO policies in operation.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB**:

- To operate the conversion machines in an efficient manner ensuring that the highest levels of quality, productivity and customer service are maintained at all times. This is this position’s prime role.
- When required - to deliver local orders on time and errands thereby providing the best service to both internal and external customers.

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**:
**Planning**
- Plan requirements for each job to meet required deadlines as per Performance Log or instructions from the Production Planner.
- Use correct equipment i.e. blades, tools, masking tape, labels etc.
- Monitor stock of all consumables (i.e. cores, tape etc.) and communicate levels to Supervisor daily.
- Advise Supervisor of any potential bottlenecks or scheduling and quality problems.

**Slitting and spooling**
- Check the Performance Log or as instructed by the Supervisor agreeing on the time required for the job.
- Update the computer system with relevant information.
- Ensure that all jobs are completed on time, accurately and with minimum wastage.
- Check that the material matches the works ticket in respect of product type, dimensions, quantity and lot numbers.
- Ensure that only one job should be at the workstation at any time.
- Ensure that all operations are carried out in a safe manner.
- Ensure that machines are maintained for safe operation and for operational use.
- Use the safety glove when changing or sharpening all blades.
- Load and operate the machine according to the works instruction making sure that waste is kept to a minimum.
- Convert/spool according to works ticket instructions i.e. tension, core size, dimensions etc.
- Perform the required quality checks during the job and after completion (stamped and signed), and advise supervisor that job is completed.
- Ensure that all products, part units and waste are labelled correctly.
- Place all waste i.e. cores, scrapped material etc. into the waste bin.

**Packing**
- When required to pack, the following procedure must be carried out:

- Identify from the Performance Log (ex conversion or stores) what material for the assigned division should be packed according to delivery schedule.
- Pack the products according to technical requirements as per procedures.
- Ensure that product will not be damaged during transit or storage.
- Good Housekeeping/Safety

**Driving Procedures**
- Adhere to all ISO 9002 procedures ensuring that all workflow is completed efficiently and that record keeping is kept up to date at all times. These include: trip sheets, vehicle checklists, delivery note/invoices, Cod’s and Performance Log on Gim.
- Load vehicle according to route plan set out / follow the most cost-effective route for deliveries.
