**Key purpose of the role**
The purpose of this role is to lead the external reporting and head office accounting functions for the Discovery Group. The role reports directly to the Head of Group Finance with key engagement with various stakeholders across the Group.
We are looking for an exceptional financial leader with solid external reporting experience in financial services..**Areas of responsibility**
- Responsibility, oversight and management of the external reporting process in accordance with governance policies, procedures and relevant reporting and regulatory requirements (e. g. King, JSE LR, etc.).
- Manage the preparation and approval of group annual financial statements, results booklet, and other required templates
- Manage the preparation and approval of subsidiary annual financial statements template
- Liaise with various stakeholders to propose / support and implement changes to disclosures as required
- Preparation of statutory (interim and year-end) reporting timelines and instructions
- Preparation / review of group annual and interim financial statements, results booklets, additional analyst information, advertisements and related SENS announcements, including typesetting where applicable
- Review of results presentations and other elements of the reporting suite
- Ensure consistency and accuracy across all externally presented information / reports
- Ensure compliance of external reports to Discovery Corporate Identity and related guidelines
- Oversight of CIPC / XBRL for the Group
- Management of the external audit relationship and process, including approval of audit plan, allocation and group audit fees, as well as liaising with auditors during the cycle to ensure risks in meeting the plan are addressed timeously
- Supporting the preparation/review of SENS and JSE circulars reporting
- Review of technical accounting papers to ensure external reporting impacts have been adequately and appropriately addressed
- Preparation / review of all accounting & reporting requirements for Discovery Ltd and Share Trusts
- Preparation / review and distribution of all group calculations to support business
- Preparation / review of Discovery Limited (separate) annual financial statements
- Recruit and retain talent, team management
- Support the reporting optimisation function
- Implement finance processes and relevant controls over areas of responsibility and ensure adequate documentation thereof
- Support the CFO, Office of the CEO, Investor Relations and other key stakeholders
- Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required
- Preparation of the function workplans, including alignment to the overall Group Reporting team workplan
- Work collaboratively with the Discovery Group Finance team and business finance teams

**Qualifications and Skill Set**
- Exceptional CA(SA) with strong external reporting experience in a listed entity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships
- Advanced Excel knowledge and experience
