Critical Outputs
**Effective governance and medication risk management**:
Implement Pharmacy best operating practice related to medication safety management.
Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH and LHC legal and professional standards.
**Effective quality management**:
Drive enhanced performance in the Antimicrobial Stewardship and Clinical Pharmacy Programs in the hospital.
Drive optimised implementation of and compliance to the LHC quality management system.
Achieve required customer service levels and drive continuous improvement.
**Effective medication risk management**:
Report 100% of medication incidents, complete root cause analysis for every incident, develop and implement remedial actions as appropriate.
Complete trends analysis with relevant actions quarterly together with Pharmacy Manager.
Report 100% of stock alerts relating to ethical stock not available for patient use, complete a root cause analysis, develop, and implement remedial action and complete a trends analysis quarterly. Review pharmacy medication process, identify improvement opportunities and implement actions as well as best operating practice related to medication risk management.
Develop an implementation plan for published pharmacy procedures, identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions from QMS reviews.
**Effective customer satisfaction management**:
Manage the agreed ethical product issuing and replenishment process to achieve customer service levels to wards and theatre.
Participate in company pharmacy customer satisfaction survey annually, identify gaps and implement remedial action.
**Effective people management**:
Demonstrate visible leadership aligned to the company values, operating model, and strategy.
Recruit, retain, motivate, and develop staff according to LHC people policies and practices.
Build effective working relationships with doctors and the multifunctional hospital team.
Manage optimal performance of pharmacy staff to ensure delivery of critical outputs.
Provide direction and inspire positive work behaviour in the team.
**Effective financial and asset management**:
Review daily stock cover template to ensure adequate coverage according to target, inform doctors, theatres, and wards of alternative products available in supplier out of stock situations.
Review dead stock report and reduce dead stock according to target.
Participate in cycle counts and stock takes, and ensure they are in line with governance, investigate variances and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Achieve hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy.
Actively manage the cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget.
Implement LHC pharmaceutical product conversions and cost efficiency opportunities.
Identify and implement initiatives to enhance cost effective care provision with optimal patient outcomes.
Drive identified growth, sustainability, and process efficiency initiatives.
Achieve stock management targets.
Ensure stock is ordered from preferred suppliers according to LHC procurement agreement.
**Requirements**:
B.Pharm / Dip.Pharm, and current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council
Relevant private hospital experience
Proven leadership and people management experience
Understanding of pharmacy and related healthcare industry, legislation, regulation, and challenges
Pharmaceutical product knowledge
Computer proficiency (MS office)
