- The Software Engineer Team Lead is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining products and/or systems to enable Sage’s business plans and long term objectives using the identified architecture.
The Software Engineer Team Lead will have overall technical ownership of the design, develop and delivery of high quality products and/or systems and services that exceed customers’ or business partners’ expectations and will proactively share their own knowledge for specific technical solutions and business processes in their area of responsibility.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Directing software development projects
- Ensure the software roadmap is clearly communicated across all functions to enable the business to effectively plan, finance and execute the products evolution
- Own software design for products spanning multiple engineering teams
- Leadership to define standards and practices
- Owns technical relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Play a role of both a technology leader and a Product Designer
- Be an enthusiastic team player acting as an ambassador for product delivery
- Engage and energize teams by injecting enthusiasm and bounce in every team interaction. Lead people, and are sought out for your expertise and counsel
- Lead the evaluation of ideas, tools, technology, standards and best practice
- Drive and support innovation by acting as a sounding board for ideas and help bring them to life.
- Actively engage in tracking and reducing technical debt.
- Partakes and drives participation in Agile processes, leading agile ceremonies where
needed
- Strong grasp of industry standards, best practices, and design patterns
- Be willing to adapt to significant changes in either technology or environment
- Provide coaching and mentoring to technical staff.
- Performs line management of a team of developers including 1-2-1s, performance
management, etc.
- Mentor team members to improve their skillsets

Skills, know-how and experience:
Must have:

- Experience and deep technical expertise for the technologies in scope
- Passion and ability to quickly pick up expertise on new technologies.
- Innovative & entrepreneurial approach to building products that make a profound difference in customer's life
- Business and industry acumen
- Exceptional numerical reasoning, logic ability and problem-solving skills
- Expert in operationalizing 21st Century trends like Cloud, Social, Mobility, IoT, Big Data,
- Expert implementing Architecture Best Practices and Patterns like Microservices, CQRS, Event Sourcing, Domain-Driven Design,
- Proven experience in using a TDD approach
- Experienced working with Open Source projects and in an Open Source approach internally
- Expert creating API-first products

- At least 8 years of experience
Technical / professional qualifications:

- Computer Science (or related degree/qualification)
- Contribution to open source software projects
