Rainbow Agriculture Western Cape Lab has a position available for a Lab Technician with the relevant experience in an ISO 17025 accredited Laboratory to produce reliable and quality media for testing in accordance with defined quality standards.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- 1 years’ experience in an ISO 17025 accredited Laboratory would be an advantage.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment: This involves cleaning and sterilizing laboratory equipment, maintaining an inventory of laboratory supplies, and ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly.
- Preparing samples for analysis: This involves preparing and labeling samples for microbial analysis, as well as tracking sample locations and data in the laboratory's database.
- Conducting routine laboratory tests: This involves conducting routine laboratory tests under the direction of laboratory technologists, such as plating microbial cultures, performing basic microscopy, and performing simple biochemical tests.
- Maintaining laboratory records: This involves maintaining accurate and up-to-date laboratory records, including experimental protocols, test results, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Assisting with laboratory maintenance: This involves assisting with the cleaning and organization of the laboratory space, as well as helping to manage laboratory supplies and equipment inventory.
- Following laboratory safety protocols: This involves following laboratory safety protocols at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and properly disposing of hazardous waste.
- Collaborating with other laboratory staff: This involves working with laboratory technologists to ensure that laboratory tests are conducted efficiently and effectively.
