Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 17/4/2024- Job PurposeFormal academic and clinical teaching and assessments according to a set syllabus of the basic nursing programme within a Primary health Care approach, to assist in simulation laboratory management, to support the department and faculty in pursue of achieving its academic objectives, academic administration from student admissions to completion with SANC records and to contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the faculty to enhance a teaching and Work Integrated Learning environment. Work in the programme coordination structure of the Department and where applicable teach in the post basic programmes.
- Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience**Minimum requirements**:

- A Master’s degree in Nursing Science or equivalent qualification.
- At least two (2) years’ academic lecturing experience and/or three (3) years’ clinical teaching experience in the nursing discipline after registration at SANC.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse, midwife and nurse educator.

**Recommendation**:

- An additional qualification in Advanced Midwifery.
- Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities- Lecturer in the mainstream programmes.
- Management of a laboratory and partaking in skill laboratory activities and assets in line with SANC requirements following the nursing standards, and coordination of laboratory and placements rosters of staff and students.
- Curriculum development and theoretical and clinical teaching and assessments in the programme through e.g.monitoring and reporting.
- Implement and monitoring academic and clinical records and progress of students according to SANC regulations in the undergraduate programme, and full academic administration from admissions to completions.
- Quality assurance principles to be followed in the Bachelor Curriculum Programme and when needed in other short courses, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered in the Department.
- Academic and clinical development of student learner nurses within a work-integrated learning and mobile learning situation.
- Assist in the Department with educational activities where a need is identified by the HoD, to enhance quality in the delivery of programmes.
- Be involved in community development projects and portfolios in the department.
- Be involved in professional development sessions and research projects.
- Competencies- Good Administrative and Organizational skills (record keeping, etc.).
- Ensures that the classroom and clinical education settings, used for teaching are well equipped.
- Ability to work independently and in a team as a role-model.
- Demonstrate planning, organising, leadership and control skills to assist in tasks related to admission of students tocompletion of their studies.
- Computer literacy and implementation thereof in education settings, along with portfolios implementation under oras a program coordinator and within the Department.
- Strong learner centered approach and ability to work in a team and in environment with strong work ethics.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS office 365.
