Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 19/8/2023- Job PurposeThe post will be advertised taking into consideration the limited current clinical mentors offering the undergraduate and postgraduate work-integrated learning components of the programmes within a PHC approach. Academic and clinical teaching according to a set syllabus of the undergraduate or postgraduate nursing programme where applicable, to assist in clinical accompaniment, academic administration, clinical and theoretical nursing teaching, and simulation laboratory activities, to support the Department and Faculty in pursuit of achieving its academic objectives, and to contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the university to enhance the teaching and learning environment. A WIL approach needs to be fulfilled in a technological environment.
- Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- A three (3) year qualification in general nursing and midwifery. A four (4) year qualification is an advantage.
- At least three (3) years training experience in an academic nursing environment or clinical experience in nursing.
- Registration with SANC as a general nurse, midwife and nurse educator.
- A qualification in PHC is an advantage.
- Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities- Facilitation of the clinical component of the undergraduate and postgraduate programme (where relevant) between CPUT and clinical health facilities.
- Manage learner wellness and progressive learner discipline through implementation of an effective record system.
- Curriculum development and theoretical and clinical teaching and assessments in the undergraduate programme with liason with internal and external stakeholders towards program, personal and professional development.
- Monitor and evaluate learner academic development within a work-integrated learning and mobile technology learning situation, and assist as requested by the HOD as the needs arise.
- Management of skill laboratory and clinical activities and assets in line with SANC requirements, and coordination of clinical rosters where applicable for staff and students.
- Quality assurance programme through academic administration and record keeping from recruitment to completion of studies in a professional learning environment.
- Competencies- Appropriate level of academic and clinical knowledge in a Basic Nursing Science programme or Primary health care programme.
- Ensures that the classroom and clinical education setting (work-integrated learning) used for teaching are conducive for learning.
- Ability to work independently and in a team as a role-model.
- Planning, organisational, leadership and control skills in supporting the course coordinator and with academic administration from procedures from admission to completions.
- Computer literacy and use of WIL and mobile and technological approaches.
- Continuous learner, ability to work in a strong work ethic environment.
