Starke Ayres: National Sales Manager

To maximise returns from the sales of Starke Ayres’ approved range of products within his/her portfolio as identified from time to time, by co-ordinating and managing the Company’s regional, national and international sales efforts within the framework of company policy as determined from time to time.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Market Planning and Sales Strategy
- Determines the regional and national market potential of the Starke Ayres’ range of professional seed products.
- Develops and implements a national marketing plan and sales strategy based on market potential, identified priority products and projected market share, liaising closely with the Regional Sales Managers (Seed) in the process.
- Annually submits national sales objectives, by region phased monthly, in conjunction with the Regional Sales Managers (Seed).
- Monitors the Company’s sales performance on an ongoing basis and reviews and updates sales projections and stock requirements as and when required.
- Supervises and monitors the implementation of the marketing plan and sales strategy, making adjustments as and when required.
2. Financial Budgets
- Annually submits a financial budget based on projected national sales expenses and capital expenditure.
- Monitors and controls national sales expenses, motivating adjustments as and when required.
3. Product Management
- Evaluates Starke Ayres’ product range on an ongoing basis, identifies weaknesses, and makes recommendations with regard to new product introductions and deletions.
- Manages stock levels. Is responsible for the product sales strategy of surplus and redundant stock.
- Allocates products in short supply in line with market potential to ensure maximum long-term sales.
- Determines national promotion and advertising needs, and makes recommendations with regard to the formulation and implementation of an effective product support programme.
4. Personnel Management
- Appoints Regional Sales Managers and national sales personnel in line with national needs and approved budgets.
- Determines training needs of sales personnel and implements suitable and approved training programmes as and when required.
- Motivates and supports Regional Sales Managers and national sales personnel maintaining a high morale at all times.
- Evaluates the performance of Regional Sales Managers and national sales personnel on a regular basis, takes corrective action as and when necessary, and recommends and motivates salary adjustments and promotions.
- Keeps Regional Sales Managers and national sales personnel fully informed at all times of any changes and new developments within the company that may effect their activities.
- Ensures that Regional Sales Managers and national sales personnel co-operate fully with other departments within the company in the execution of their duties.
5. Customer Service
- Creates a culture of superior customer service amongst national and regional sales personnel.
- Intervenes swiftly and effectively where problems cannot be resolved satisfactorily at Regional Sales Manager level.
- Liaises with and visits major customers regularly by arrangement with regional and national management.
- Acts responsibly and professionally at all times, fostering goodwill and a positive image for the Company.
- Liaises with organizations and individuals outside the Company who may exert an influence on the Company’s activities and successes on a regular basis.
6. Administration
- Submits monthly and other reports promptly as required.
- Assists with collection of outstanding debts.
- Provides feedback on any changes and new developments in the market place that may have an effect on the Company’s future planning and marketing strategy.
- Attends meetings and training courses as and when required.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
a. Education:
Min: B Agric (Horticulture) and Marketing Diploma
Ideal: B.Sc (Horticulture) or B Comm
b. Legal requirements:
Min: Driver's License
Ideal: Driver's License & Industrial Relations
c. Training:
Min: Sales/Marketing/Presentation Skills, Computer Literacy.
Ideal: Sale/Marketing/Presentation Skills, Computer Literacy, Public Relations.
d. Hazard & safety req: Motor Car Immobilizer/Auto Theft Device
