RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:

- Providing medical support and care to athletes and sports enthusiasts on the TuksSport

Campus during training, competitions, and events;
- Providing life-saving treatment and emergency medical care to stabilize the person before

transferring to the hospital for further medical care;
- Assisting in injury prevention, immediate medical response, injury management and

rehabilitation of athletes contributing to their optimal performance and overall athletic
success;
- Keep records of injuries and medical incidents and compile reports and submit them to the

relevant stakeholders;
- Supervise and coordinate medical staff and service providers within the Emergency Care

Unit;
- Provide support to medical unit officer when needed which includes Medical Management

Plans, Training & Development, Occupational Health & Safety and general Administration;
- Coordinate training for First Aid, CPR and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for

TuksSport Staff and students.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Diploma in Emergency Medical Care or National Diploma in General Nurse or a related

field with at least two years of experience in basic emergency care or:

- Higher Certificate ECA (Emergency Care Assistant) with at least three years of

experience in basic emergency care.REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL
ATTRIBUTES):

- Proficient knowledge of:

- Sports injuries;
- Medical procedures, knowledge, terminology, and medication;
- Patient care;
- Registered member of HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa);
- Proof of CPG (Clinical Practitioners Guideline) certificate.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Care/ ECP (Emergency Care Practitioner), Nursing (BN);
- Four years of experience in basic emergency care;
- One year of experience in sport-specific emergency medical care or trauma.
