This position is based in Gauteng at our premises in Nigel.

**Purpose of the Job**

The Industrial Quality Inspector ensures compliance of products and parts delivered by the ALSTOM facilities. He/ She performs inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures according to the applicable instructions on products ready for delivery and on products during their manufacturing process. He/ She records associated NCRs, results, and KPIs.

**Accountabilities & Authorities**:

- Perform inspections of subassemblies or finished ALSTOM products according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/ or electrical measurements,
- Reporting problems from any source related to product quality
- Liaising with internal customers to establish precise expectations, if product anomalies or inconsistencies arise
- Ensuring the correct revisions of product specifications and drawings are used
- Autonomous team / Workstation Quality animation -adequate feedback on defects and causes through detailed analysis
- Carry out inspection of product against drawings and specifications requirements
- Carrying out internal product audits
- Participating in Problem solving activities - QRQC, Quality Animation
- Monitoring of corrective and preventative actions and close out of NCRs from internal /external Customer
- Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure the use of correctly calibrated tools or equipment in all inspections and manufacturing operations.
- Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists
- Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action
- Reports to the Industrial Quality Managers the synthesis of inspection results, including KPIs
- Support Zero Defect Program Objective.

**EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES & REQUIRED COMPETENCIES**

**Educational Requirements**
- N6 Electrical / Mechanical or Equivalent

**Mandatory**:

- Technical background enabling the understanding of critical characteristics of the products (electromechanical, electrical, material, mechanical) or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills
- Conversant with Microsoft Office, SAP database
- Team player
- Proactive approach
- Problem solving techniques
- Understanding of ALSTOM drawings, systems and procedures.

**Desirable**:

- Knowledge of railway industry (norms, certifications) would be an asset,
- A wide practical knowledge of manufacturing techniques and their relationship to quality systems such as those defined in ISO: -9001-2015.

**EXPERIENCE**

**Desirable**:

- Able to read documents in English.
- Able to read technical drawings.
