**Food & Beverage Supervisor **required for a reputable company based in **East London**

**Description of position**:
The employee will actively participate in the general daily operation of the Food & Beverage Department under the direction of the Events Manager

**Qualifications**:

- A hospitality related qualification or proof of courses attended

**Experience**:
***
- One year’s experience of working in the food & beverage industry
- Basic knowledge of food preparation & hygiene would be preferable (training will be provided)
- Management experience required

**Skills**:
***
- Must be able to understand & follow written & oral instructions & complete scheduled tasks unsupervised within the desired timeframes
- Computer literacy

**Key Performance indicators**:

- Venues setup timeously & to the standard expected of the customer & management
- All equipment to be cleaned within required timeframes.
- Ensures that an accurate reservation system is in place

**Primary Functions**:

- Setup venues for conferences and functions as per customer requirements
- Prevent loss of or damage to equipment by ensuring that proper care is taken when handling this equipment
- Ensure that waste and the waste area is managed to the standard determined by management.
- Ensure that all designated areas are cleaned to required standards
- Ensure mínimal wastage of cleaning materials.
- Greets guests and oversees actual service on a routine, random basis
- Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to pertaining to alcoholic beverages
- Addresses member and guest complaints and advises the Events Manager about appropriate corrective actions taken
- Inspects to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met
- Helps plan external and internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the food and beverage department
- Monitors purchasing and receiving procedures for products and supplies to ensure proper quantity, quality and price for all purchases
- Assists in planning and implementing procedures for special club events and banquet functions.
- Management & supervision of all bars
- Daily issues from cellars to bars
- Supervision of barmen; ensuring the have requested sufficient stock.
- Supervision/Manage beverage inventory levels daily
- Ensuring that barmen have sufficient change to operate
- Check on general cleanliness of bars - glassware, bar counters & mirrors
- Supervision of waiters - checking on service & ensuring that waiters have topped up all condiments & wiped all menus
- Supervision of the bar assistants - make sure that they are topping up the ice & water in all bars
- Ensuring that bars have steady flow of clean glasses going to bars
- Perform monthly stock takes in all bars as well as cellars
- Management of bulk cellar stores
- Purchasing of all stock items on a weekly basis
- Maintaining stock levels in cellars
- Rotating for stocks on a weekly basis
- Ensuring storerooms & cold rooms are kept clean & tidy & stock packed away correctly
- Checking in of stock when received from suppliers
- Purchasing of all cleaning materials
- Issuing of cleaning materials to laundry, Red Alert & locker room attendants.
- Overseeing of buffet stations when required
- Assisting in the kitchen with plating of meals when necessary
- Supervising of food and beverage staff members
- Checking on menus for functions and conferencing and ensuring that all relevant items are prepped.

**Secondary Functions**:

- Assist with stocktaking as required
- Report any problems or problem areas to management
- Manages the long-range staffing needs of the department
- Helps plan and approve the organizational chart, staffing and scheduling procedures and job description/specifications for all department staff
- Ensures that an accurate reservation system is in place
- Monitors employee dress codes according to policies and procedures
- Manages physical inventory verification and provides updated information to the accounting department
- Perform any reasonable task as required by management from time to time

**General**:

- It is noted that circumstances change on macro and micro scale and the employee and employer are encouraged to ensure this document is updated and agreed from time to time
- Performance appraisals are to be held where the employee is assessed; given feedback and encouraged to rectify sub-optimal performance (if any) at least twice in any year
- The employee must adhere to safety requirements
- Staff common areas are to be kept clean at all times
- The employee must maintain a constructive relationship with all stakeholders.
- The employee must ensure that a team approach is nurtured and supported.
