**Assistant Maintenance Manager**

**INTRODUCTION**:
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Manufacturing industry, for an Assistant Maintenance Manager. The position is based in Bellville.

This position works Monday to Friday 06:00 - 16:00. Every 3rd week (along with standby duties) the person will work the Saturday 06:00 - 13:00.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must be a qualified electrician.
- Must have knowledge and experience with mechanical work (bearings, shafts, etc.)
- Must have the ability to work in a team.
- Must be hands-on with tasks to be done.
- Basic computer skills (MS Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Must be willing to work on standby and respond on callouts (every 3rd week).
- Own transport - Code 8 license

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- This position is work in cooperation with the Maintenance Manager to cover all the maintenance tasks at the company. This person must also attend to the responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager in his absence.
- **Scheduled Maintenance**:

- Ensure thorough and timely completion of maintenance tasks assisted in company scheduled maintenance documents 7018 up till 7023 and 7005 Office Maintenance 3xmonthly.
- Must be familiar and understand:

- a) The operation of each machine.
- b) How to disassemble and assemble the machines.
- c) How to do adjustments to obtain optimal efficiency.
- d) Machine specifications
- Perform a pre-inspection to identify any faults before scheduled maintenance can commence.
- Perform a after inspection when maintenance is completed.
- Be present when starting machines after scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
- Walk the plant twice a day to inspect for any defects by following document 7013 Maintenance Daily Inspections. Complete the WhatsApp reports thereafter.
- **Logistics**:

- Address every task on a document. In the case of no attention still write “not done, the reason why and when it will be addressed.”
- All scheduled maintenance tasks must be signed off when completed.
- Completed documents must be signed off and handed over to the Maintenance Manager.
- Delivery notes of purchases must be brought to the attention of the maintenance manager.
- Special Operating Procedures must be completed where applicable and handed over to the maintenance manager when the job is done.
- **Break Downs**:

- Be on standby for break down recovery.
- Always be able to assist with breakdown repairs.
- Handle all emergency situations as urgent.
- All repairs to breakdowns must be done quickly and effectively.
- A temporary repair is only acceptable in abnormal circumstances and needs to be fixed permanently ASAP.
- **General Maintenance**:

- All defects to the Company property must be reported immediately to Admin “Shirley” who act as the administrator of the program.
- Complete document 7015 Plant Deviation Report and report defect to the Maintenance Manager for repair.
- **Spare Parts**:

- If spare parts are used, it must be brought under the maintenance manager’s attention immediately because there should always be sufficient serviceable critical spare parts so that there are no waiting times if breakages take place.
- Spare parts must be ordered and stored neatly.
- Spare parts must be checked carefully for damages when offloaded by the supplier before the receipt documentation is signed.
- **Maintenance Consumable Materials**:

- There must always be sufficient stock. Stock must always be between the minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Once you notice levels are low, it must be brought to the attention of the maintenance manager.
- Consumables should always be controlled and used wisely to control waste.
- Consumables must be stored neatly and easily be identifiable.
- **Equipment**:

- Tools must be stored neatly and identifiable as requested by the maintenance manager.
- Tools that get lost, or breaks must immediately be logged in and a lost / broken tool report must be completed.
- Tool’s checklist document 7009, system maintained to limit losses.
- Maintenance staff must be trained to use tools correctly.
- Remove unsafe tools to prevent from using and report to Maintenance Manager.
- **Workshop and Spare parts store**
- These buildings must always comply to good housekeeping. (For everything a place and everything on its place)
- Daily maintain optimal cleanliness.
- Special attention should be paid to pest control.
- **Occupational Safety**:

- It must be ensured that maintenance staff always wear the necessary protective clothing.
- If staff do dangerous high work, they need to wear and secure safety harnesses.
- Technical staff code of conduct and safety rules 9006 must strictly adhered to.
- **Tool Room**:

- This building must always be maintained in a tidy condition with good housekeeping.
- Special attention should be paid to pest control.
- **Occupational Safety Law**:

- Be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993.
- **Fire**:

- Make sure people will know what to do in the event of
