Financial Reporting Controller

The Financial Reporting Controller manages and maximises the company’s cash flow through the effective management of credit control (indirectly), accounts payable functions and by ensuring that the parameters of credit control and accounts payable are met so that the company can minimise working capital requirements and limit write-offs.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- To lead the accounts payable function in ensuring that:

- GBS team accurately and timeously process all invoices due to suppliers
- Managing outstanding GR/IR items/account to ensure timely processing
- Review and approve payments and ensuring these are in line with payment terms
- Review supplier reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis
- Credit reference checks on suppliers as and when required.
- Lead projects on cash flow and PTP improvement (extension of payment terms and supply-chain financing onboarding)
- Review and approve new suppliers
- Manage and complete month-end procedures and month-end close within set deadlines
- Manage RTR team on a daily basis and ensure deadlines are met
- Complete reporting on BPC for actuals, budget and forecasts
- Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations by set deadlines
- Review and analyse OIE on a monthly basis
- Prepare quarterly OIE forecasts and tracking of AC vs FC
- Prepare balance sheet forecasts on a quarterly basis and tracking of AC vs FC
- Prepare balance sheet budgets on a yearly basis
- Assist in financial information required for BEE audits
- Assist in completion of Stats SA submissions
- Assist financial managers (FP&A & Controlling) and debtors manager with ad-hoc financial requirements/tasks
- Act as first point of contact for internal and external auditors’ queries
- Assist in preparation of annual financial statements
- Review internal audit procedures and tests performed
- Manage capex process - review of accuracy of capitalisations
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of fixed asset register
- Manage yearly physical fixed asset counts
- Ensure DTPs are updated
- Prepare weekly, monthly, yearly cash-flow forecasts
- Manage cash-in-bank balances on a weekly basis
- Ensure that bank signatories remain updated
- Prepare and report monthly/quarterly treasury reporting required by Group
- Assist with the preparation of tax and VAT computations and filing of returns
- Ensure timely filing and payment of VAT, taxation and payroll taxes
- Assist in processing insurance claims
- Assist in preparing insurance policy renewal data required

**Qualifications and Experience**
- B Com Hnrs in Accounting / CA (SA)
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years’ practical/work experience, preferably in FMCG

**Sufficient / in-depth, knowledge of**:

- MS Office, with emphasis on Excel, Word, PPT
- SOX404 Requirements
- SAP
- Financial, sales and HR policies and procedures
- Internal audit procedures and policies
- Filing of VAT201, EMP201 and income tax returns
- All relevant statutory acts and regulations with emphasis on the Income Tax Act, IFRS, US GAAP, VAT Act and National Credit Act
