Kitchen Hand

Large hotel in Bantry Bay is looking for a Kitchen Hand to assists with the day-to-day running of the kitchen. Their duties include cleaning the kitchen, assisting with food preparation and keeping the kitchen orderly and efficient.
- Assist kitchen and service staff.
- Help with cleaning the food preparation areas and other parts of the kitchen.
- A major part of their work involves dishwashing, cleaning of the cooking and utensils and kitchen equipment.
- Restock kitchen ingredients and other needed supplies.
- Assist with food storage and assembly.
- Ensure that the kitchen and service areas meet hygienic and safety standards.
- Washing, disinfecting and polishing dishware based on company procedures
- Maintaining order and cleanliness of the kitchen, food preparation areas and service areas based on industry and company standards
- Cleaning general utensils and kitchen equipment
- Cooking, toasting and heating food under the supervision of Line Chefs
- Assembling and preparing food ingredients for cooking
- Restocking kitchen supplies and maintaining equipment as needed
- Packing food and drinking trays for serving
- Weighing, transferring, checking and storing food ingredients

**Requirements**:

- Matric and a formal qualification (advantage)
- experience with food preparation and sanitation.
- Basic food handling & hygiene knowledge
- Experience working in restaurants, fast food, commercial kitchens and catering
- Knowledge of dining room setup
- Solid understanding of food handling, sanitation and prevention of food-borne illnesses
- Ability to work well with their hands
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Physical strength and the ability to lift heavy loads
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
