**Job Description**:

- We are seeking a Principal - Operational Risk Management to ensure operational risks are identified and effectively managed via the Operational Risk Management (ORM) programme to achieve sustainable business results. A primary focus will be to assist the organisation with ORM implementation as the key driver of risk management, avoiding over-complication and ensuring efficient use of available risk resources.

**Location of this role is open, with preferred locations being UK, South Africa or South America. **This role will require regional and international travel and time spent on operational mining and processing sites.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Support work to identify, manage and control or eliminate operational risks and help identify, manage and benefit from operational opportunities.
- Embed definitions for objective and relevant operational risk management performance measures and implement the performance monitoring system to inform management of key risks, potential consequences, probabilities, and control effectiveness.
- Provide specialist technical support for ORM development and implementation at business units and operations.
- Drive the development and roll-out of the ORM Plan and Roadmap and associated ORM implementation plans and programmes at business units (BU’s) and operations.
- Drive the development of ORM capability, competency and capacity across the organisational levels.
- Facilitate the embedding of systems that accurately define, monitor, and analyse operational risk profiles, control strategies, and control effectiveness.
- Improve sustainability performance of the AA safety organisation over time.
- Establish compliance with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements

**Qualifications
- What we’re looking for**:

- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- A deep understanding of the importance of safety and risk management.
- A proven track record and extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity in a relevant technical discipline.
- Demonstration of successful execution and delivery within risk management within a global environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of operational processes and risk management systems.
- Track record of translating concepts into practical initiatives to be implemented.
- Demonstrated experience working at a senior level with operational and/ or enterprise risk management processes.
- Demonstrated success interacting and influencing a wide range of stakeholders from senior leadership to front-line employees.
