- At least four (4) years' relevant teaching experience in a tertiary institution
- At least two (2) years’ management experience Successful supervision of post-graduates to completion Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals

- Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities- Overall leadership and responsibility for Research, Technology, Innovation and Partnership in the faculty with oversight from the Dean
- Manage general research activities in the Faculty (e.g chairing Faculty proposal defences; maintaining a database for research funding etc)
- Provide appropriate academic and administrative leadership
- Provide oversight in conjunction with head of departments to appointment for Adjunct Professors,
- Research Fellows and postdoctoral fellows
- Represent the Faculty in appropriate Committees (incl. regional and national committees) Measure and report on RTIP progress to relevant stakeholder and institutional committees Participate in quality assurance activities
- Manage the Faculty research fund
- Assist in research policy development of the University Promote research development of staff and students
- Maximize education and research opportunities and support research uptake initiatives
- Liaise between the institutional research office and Faculty
- Coordinate research colloquia and workshops for the Faculty Coach and mentor inexperienced researchers
- Supervise postgraduate students
- Develop and maintain linkages with industry, professional bodies and promote community participation
- Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Dean
