We at RCL FOODS are in search of a **QC Laboratory Supervisor** to join our **Milling **Business Unit. The role will be based in **Pretoria West **and report to the **QA Food Safety Manager**. RCL FOODS is looking for an incumbent to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the quality control laboratory on a daily basis. This will include managing the quality control staff, accurately analysing products, organising daily routes and tasks and dissemination of results.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Product Analysis & Reporting**

To accurately and timeously analyse raw materials and products.

Report non-conforming product / raw material immediately.

Report legal non-compliance immediately.

Document all analytical results.

Ensure all analytical data is within acceptable experimental error.

Disseminate and distribute all information to enable Production to effectively manage the milling and packing processes to achieve quality standards.

Ensure all proficiency testing is done and kept within acceptable limits.

Ensure all instruments are calibrated and that the methods are the latest controlled versions.

Manage the retention store.

Daily verification and management of control samples.

Reporting of all necessary results and trend analysis according to schedule

**Work Planning and staff control**

Plan and allocate work routes and shifts.

Monitor and control all staff in QC department (14 people).

Plan and manage leave of all staff.

Ensure all staff are trained in official analytical procedures.

Monitor and record the accuracy of all technicians.

**Safety and Food Safety**

Implement and enforce safety procedures as per company policy.

Ensure all staff members are trained in accordance with safety procedures and policies.

Implement and assess all safe work procedures and planned job observations.

Implement and maintain FSSC 22000 relevant policies and procedures in the laboratory.

Maintain strict housekeeping and hygiene standards in the laboratory.

Section 8a appointee - Member of the department responsible for health and safety.

**Instrumentation and Consumables**

Ensure all instruments are maintained according to schedule.

Conduct minor repairs where possible.

Coordinate repairs to instruments when needed.

Ensure all consumables and chemicals are at the minimum stock levels and stored according to the procedure.

Ensure the budget is maintained in the QC laboratories.

**Minimum Requirements**:
Relevant 3 or more year degree

4 or more years of laboratory experience (preferably in a cereal laboratory)

Proven supervisory / team leading experience
