We are looking for an exciting, dynamic, ambitious individual to join our amazing family company as a **Food Buyer**, based in Stellenbosch.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountability**:

- **Forecasting **yearly, quarterly and weekly of stock requirements, taking into consideration special events, seasonality, trends, past sales, time of month / day of week, supplier credit terms, availability, product shelf life, etc. in order to efficiently manage inventory.
- **Purchasing** through creation of purchase orders and communicating with Domestic and Imported suppliers and logistics team along with transporter. Purchasing to comply with standard operating procedures and to ensure all paper trails and approval processes are followed at all times.
- Constantly build on improving the **Financial **aspects of purchasing through improving of Inventory days and cashflow, while maintaining within set budgets
- **Negotiate **with suppliers on supply agreements
- **Follow up** on credit notes, outstanding invoices, track waybill and or any other documentations.
- **Relationship** building with suppliers and work on improving process and building on product lines with existing and new suppliers. Arranging in house product training.
- Keep accurate records and **Communicate** any supplier out of stock on limited stock lines and ETA’s on incoming stock
- Work on improving the **Quality **of product purchased
- Constantly work on improving your own product knowledge and imparting this to other employees.
- Work closely with all areas of the business (sales, accounts and logistics), not only the purchasing department.
- You may be required to assist from time to time in other areas of the company.

**Job requirements**:

- Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook o excellent communication and negotiating skills, and a clear focus on efficient procurement and inventory management. An organised and systematic forward planner.
- Must have an aptitude for figures and ability to manage a budget
- Must be proficient in use of MS Office, particularly Excel. ERP or stock management systems, Sage products, and /or Acumatica.
- Knowledge on imports beneficial
