**Position Overview**
The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Finance Manager and supports the end to end finance operational and monthly reporting process by working with other members of the Financial Reporting team and other corporate teams within RGA e.g. Operations, Valuations, GFS, Traditional Pricing, Treasury and Tax.

As a support function to international operations the role requires engagement and frequent communication with stakeholders including managing directors, pricing and business development actuaries in various European jurisdictions as well as the UAE. The CEME team is presently participating in a number of key projects including administration system migration, IFRS and LDTI USGAAP transition and ad hoc process improvement initiatives within which the SFA is required to participate. The role requires an independent confident individual with an enquiring mind and a passion for continuous improvement in an environment and role that is always evolving. A solid technical accounting base as well as a passion for management and operational finance is necessary as the position exposes the individual to a broad range of accounting, financial reporting, budget and planning, forecasting, reconciliation and internal control topics.

**Responsibilities**
- **Strategic / Operations**:
Assists the Finance Manager and Head of Finance to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders as well as meet internal and external reporting deadlines by:

- Preparing, analysing, posting and reconciling technical results.
- Performing reconciliations between the administration systems (Ira and TPA) and the general ledger (PeopleSoft).
- Raising journals for the general ledger for traditional and financial solutions treaties when applicable
- Performing analysis of treaty level results monthly and working collaboratively with administration/operations staff based in Europe and SA and valuations team based in Toronto ensure the validity, accuracy and completeness thereof.
- Prepare actual to plan variance analysis and prepare monthly results snap shot memo’s for presentation and discussion with local office stakeholders.
- Preparation of the monthly Management Information Pack for local offices.
- Review and analysis of individual RGA entity balance sheets.
- Analyse new signed treaties to identify system updates required to record new business at an appropriate level of granularity.
- Management of direct admin feeds to the ledger ensuring that any issues are escalated/resolved in a timely manner.
- Quarterly Balance sheet reconciliation and sign off.
- Assist with suspense reconciliation.
- Assist with reconciliation sign off.
- Together with the Head of Finance and Financial manager develop improved operational finance review analytics of key trends and feedback mechanism to administration teams, valuations, and local office business partners.
- Participate in the transition and adoption of LDTI / IFRS 17 for US GAAP/ statutory reporting.
- **Financial Results**:
The role supports the financial reporting process of the Continental Europe and Middle East business units to the International Finance team and the local regulatory and statutory reporting for the legal entity in Ireland.
- Task completion will be in accordance with SOX procedures.
- Use of Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft will be extensive.

**Requirements** Education / Experience**:

- **Required**:

- Qualified accountant hands on experience in a finance environment within a life reinsurance/insurance;
- Ability to work to deadlines;
- Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Previous experience of using a general ledger system;
- Good project and time management skills with ability to take full responsibility for tasks from beginning to end;
- A proactive and pre-emptive problem-solving approach
- Proactive in own development, willingness to embrace new concepts and challenges.
- **Preferred/ Desirable**:

- Experience within the finance function of a financial services company or accounting firm;
- Knowledge of the life reinsurance industry;

**Communication Skills**:
Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to multi task and work under tight deadlines.

**Complexity of Reasoning**:
Ability to analyze the consistency of information between a variety of systems.
