**Job Purpose**:

- APGI’s Data Scientist is the company’s point person when it comes to retrieving data from various databases, analyzing it, and discovering unique ways to manipulate it so that we can provide appropriate business and security advice to our clients.
- Uses data analytics to detect abnormalities in processes and security systems, ultimately strengthening the assurance function of APGI.
- Is proactive in exploring new tools, techniques or data outputs that could benefit APGI and its clients;
- Is naturally curious;
- Is interested in the field of enterprise security;
- Continuously seeks improvement, and should always ask “is there a better way to do this?”;
- Would like to make the world a better place.

**Role Description**:

- Develops statistical models that can detect a variety of abnormal events in the security control environment as well as production processes of clients.
- Uses data and/or models to generate automated reports that include detailed, clear, and informative visualizations of the data, highlighting any abnormalities found by the anomaly detection algorithms.
- Monitors and ensures continuous data flow from sources, allowing easy and efficient access to client data.
- When required will review high risk security incidents at client sites, using remote monitoring tools and data streams.
- Uses APIs, where required, to access and retrieve data from various sources.

**Desired software talents (in order of preference)**:R, VBA, SQL, Python, Statistica

**Qualifications and Educational Requirements**:
College or university education in a related field;
Will accept equivalent experience and/or proof of technical knowledge and work experience.

We keep executives and their leadership teams up-to-date on their enterprise wide risks by conducting risk assessments and providing practical recommendations for mitigations to protect their systems or recover potential losses.
