To ensure appropriateness of impairments and capital adequacy and to provide insight into impairment and capital trends, including forecasts and variance analysis. To manage the development of impairment, Capital and Stress Testing models through specialist teams.
**Job Description**:
Accountability: Impairment and Capital Portfolio Analytics
- Review of collections performance, systems impacts and key metrics
- Drive the understanding and monitoring of monthly movements in the balance sheet and income statement provisions
- Ensure portfolio is within acceptable provision adequacy levels, including income statement and balance sheet provisions.
- Play a critical role in portfolio monitoring, management and reporting
- Analyze and report on any underlying reasons for changes and shifts on the portfolio
- Own and direct the development of impairment and regulatory type models, i.e., Impairment; Capital (Regulatory & Economic); Stress Testing.
- Champion and drive regulatory changes applicable to the BU and the models that calculate Probability of Default (PD), Exposure at Default (EAD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Default Correlation for both impairments and capital in the portfolio to ensure that appropriate capital (Economic and Regulatory Capital) and impairments are held on the portfolio.
- Sourcing, consolidating and analysing large data sets, utilizing strong SAS skills and identifying anomalies/trends.
- Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including IT, Collections, Operations, Finance and other Risk & Business teams.
- Presentation of analytical results and proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences, providing commentary as required.
- Your ability to display strategic risk experience as well as solid SAS/Data Analytics skills will serve you well in this role. A strong quantitative, statistics and/or actuarial background with a track record of running with an entire project from conceptualization, to extraction of data, to formulating strategies and subsequent impacts of implementation through to excellent stakeholder engagement and management will be an added advantage.
Accountability: MI and Communication
- Review and report portfolio performance and trends to the Head of Credit: AVAF, Credit Risk Committee, Group Risk teams, and Product Teams.
- Communicate analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work together with cross functional teams, which may be geographically dispersed, to deliver risk initiatives.
Accountability: Strategic value adding Projects
- Use understanding of regulatory frameworks to inform business strategy and decisions
- Drive retail projects where issues span across products
- Initiative portfolio analytics to aid strategic business decision making
- Provide in-depth data analysis, trends, reporting to provide meaningful insights to be used in day-to-day decision-making processes
Accountability: Forecasting
- Perform regular forecasting for impairments and capital including intra-month forecasting as well as RAF, STP and MTP forecasting
- Actively take part in Stress Testing exercise by reviewing and challenging model outputs.
- Support the BU to deliver impairment targets and Loan Loss ratios aligned to forecasts by providing proactive analysis and guidance on how to manage credit risk to within acceptable levels.

- Challenge models to be best in class.
- Identify, analyse and drive issues with modelling and implementation teams
- Develop an understanding of data and make recommendations to resolve data integrity issues
- Contribute to model governance process, data management and integrity
- Validate performance of the existing IFRS9 models and recommend changes or enhancements where applicable
Accountability: Stakeholder Management
- Initiate engagements with various stakeholders for a review of collections metrics, portfolio performance and forecasting
- Constantly challenge established thinking and facilitate improvements in systems and processes
- Key partner in risk appetite and stress testing output
- Report on material issues in the portfolio to senior stakeholders
- Ad-hoc project work for various stakeholders as required
