**Role Purpose**

To partner with business to enable the achievement of business objectives within an appropriate risk reward profile while challenging business to manage risks better, thereby enhancing Momentum Metropolitan’s reputation with all stakeholders. Key to this role is strong internal and external stakeholder management, including with the regulators, as well as fulfilling the role of segment custodian for market conduct.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in Business / Finance / Law / Actuarial Science/IT or relevant field
- Relevant post-graduate degree (e.g. MBA, Actuarial Science / Risk Management and/or Compliance)
- Registered with the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (RMSA) (preferred)
- Registered with the Institute of Compliance South Africa (ICSA) (preferred)
- 10+ years’ relevant industry experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity within a Risk and/or Compliance function
- Understanding of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) practices and philosophy and relevant local legislation and regulations impacting risk management

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Keep abreast of legislation and best practices within the risk, compliance and legal fields to be able to understand and influence business strategy and culture
- Anticipate, identify and communicate potential threats impacting financial stability, operational efficiency and reputation
- Formulate, drive and influence segment risk strategy and risk appetite, including appropriate measurement, monitoring and reporting tools, and contribute as part of the risk community to Momentum Metropolitan’s Risk strategy
- Provide stakeholders within insights regarding risk drivers to increase management’s responsiveness and influence business decisions
- Foster a risk aware culture where risk and compliance activities are integrated and embedded in business practices through ongoing communication and education
- Establish and oversee the risk management process for the segment including identification, assessment, monitoring, management and reporting on key risks facing the business
- In conjunction with the broader Risk community, manage the identification and investigation of material risks that may have an impact on the ability of the segment to meet its objectives
- Direct and oversee the implementation of the risk management and compliance framework and solutions (e.g. assurance, hedging, reinsurance etc.) within the segment, ensuring that the segment remains within its risk appetite
- Manage the ongoing assessment of the adequacy and efficiency of risk management framework, risk appetite statement, risk management strategy and controls at a segment level and drive the implementation of measures to enhance controls and risk management
- Establish an aggregated view of the segment’s current and evolving risk profile
- Manage the reporting of the segment’s risk profile and outcome of ORSA, including details of all material risk exposures facing the segment and related mitigating actions
- Report on the effectiveness of the implementation of the risk management within the segments and flag required improvements
- Oversee the assessment, monitoring and reporting of the solvency position of the segment and ensure that the segment is appropriately capitalised
- Contribute to Momentum Metropolitan’s risk governance structures, policies and frameworks to ensure continuous integration, collaboration and alignment of risk and compliance practices across the group
- Oversee appropriate stress testing, scenario analyses and forward-looking projections and ensure results are considered in strategy, business planning and monitoring
- Develop risk and compliance governance structures within the segment to facilitate appropriate, accurate and timely information flows
- Develop strong partnerships across the business to facilitate the management and mitigation of risks across all areas as an integrated risk management effort
- Provide executive management within the segment with advice on the risk and compliance implications of business activities, and provide consultative support to assess, prioritise and mitigate potential risks, including ensuring KI’s and directors are equipped to fulfil their functions
