**What's exciting about the role**:
As a Legal Counsel at Verifone, you will be an integral member of our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) legal team, with a particular focus on our operations in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordic countries.

You will collaborate closely with business leaders to identify and address legal risks and draft and negotiate commercial agreements, and provide expert legal advice. This position also entails close cooperation with our global litigation, employment, and intellectual property (IP) law teams on matters throughout the region.

**Main responsibilities**
- Legal Risk Management: Collaborate with business leaders to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with Verifone's operations.
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial legal agreements, including hardware sales agreements, software license agreements, SaaS agreements, data protection agreements, and others.
- RFP Review: Review RFP conditions and responses to ensure compliance with legal requirements and Verifone's global risk policies.
- Legal Advisory: Provide general legal advice on the company's operations in France, with a focus on compliance with local and international laws.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the global litigation, employment, and IP law teams on French matters overseen by those teams.

**Skills and Experience we desire**:

- Fully qualified attorney in South Africa
- Minimum of 7 years legal experience, with a strong emphasis on commercial law, particularly in cross-border matters
- Significant time spent at a distinguished law firm in a commercial practice area
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment and on multi-jurisdictional transactions
- Experience with both common law and civil law systems preferred
- Strong contract drafting skills in English
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability and a keen ability to learn and understand new products, services, and laws
- Previous experience working as in-house counsel and the ability to draft and negotiate contracts in Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish, or Danish is desirable
