Global Equity Analyst

Our client is a boutique asset management company that provides a broad suite of investment solutions for institutional and retail clients. They are in the Southern Suburbs in Cape Town and are searching for a Global Equity Analyst reporting directly to the Head of Global Equity.

**About you**
As a Global Equity Analyst, you will form part of the Global Equity team, responsible for detailed fundamental analysis and valuation. You will be expected to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the companies under your coverage as well as their broader peer groups and industries.

**Performance Objectives**
- Develop a working investment thesis for each company, including Bull-Bear scenarios.
- Analyse and rate companies within our four-pillar fundamental framework.
- Maintain proprietary valuation models for each company.
- Develop a sound understanding of companies on our Master List and in the peer groups relevant to your coverage area.
- Promote these companies to the Master List, Buy List and/or Portfolio based on your investment, research and within the investment process and portfolio construction framework.
- Deliver 10 stock or sector deep dive reports over first 12 months.
- Target primary coverage of ~20-25 stocks over first 24 months.
- Engage company management and investor relations teams, as well as external research providers to develop a deeper understanding of company and sector dynamics.
- Analyse and engage companies on ESG issues and exercise proxies across your coverage area. Represent the company at management meetings, results presentations, industry events and conferences.
- Engage with the team and broader business in a professional and respectful manner.
- Contribution to investment meetings.
- Support and work toward team goals, share information, work collaboratively with team and those in the broader group.
- Interaction with management and other staff members.
- Process enhancements.
- Give back to the broader community and company projects.
- Foster greater cohesion within the broader business.

**Qualifications & What you’ll need**:

- CFA Charter Holder / CA (SA) / BCom / BBusSc (or related degree).
- Preference for buy-side equity analysis experience.
- Display initiative and ability to work independently.
- Experience of working in a smaller, dynamic investment team advantageous.
- All relevant FAIS requirements and regulatory exams/experience completed.
- 3 - 5 years equity analysis experience, ideally within a global equity team would be advantageous.
