**Technical Lead OVC x 1 - (Ref: ASHTEC-EC -01)**

**Main purpose of the job**

To provide technical expertise and lead for activities related to the delivery of Orphans and vulnerable children services, ensuring standards and quality of those services, and creating a seamless bi-directional referral system between health services, social services and community support services.

**Key performance areas**
- Provide overall technical expertise, strategic leadership, guidance and capacity building with regard to the achievement of MatCH objectives with regard to orphans and vulnerable children and youth.
- Serve as an internal technical resource and chief advocate on issues relevant to OVC Comprehensive: Case management and psychosocial support; OVC Preventive: Prevention of HIV and Sexual Violence; OVC DREAMS: Family Strengthening intervention.
- Facilitate and where required participate in MatCH and discipline strategic planning sessions and design workshops relevant to achieving portfolio objectives.
- Work closely with the M&E team to support ongoing data management, data collection, storage and analysis relevant to portfolio.
- Work with the Senior Tech Lead and other team members to design/strengthen/support quality assurance and improvement including development of standards and systems for quality improvement.
- Perform other duties aligned to the role as assigned.

**Required minimum education, training, and technical support.**
- Post graduate qualification in social sciences and/or public health
- oriented field from an accredited institution is required.
- Unendorsed driving license is required.

**Professional body registration**
- Registration with relevant professional body if applicable
- Health indemnity insurance cover (if applicable).

**Minimum work experience**:

- A minimum of six years of experience with demonstrated progressively increasing responsibility in designing, implementing and managing large, complex activities involving multiple partners in developing countries.
- A minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in technically designing and managing OVC and DREAMS, HIV, and child welfare.
- A minimum of five years prior experience managing or supporting the management of international donor-funded health programmes, preferably PEPFAR specific.
- A minimum of five years of practical experience and expertise in PEPFAR- funded OVC programming within resource-constrained settings.

**Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities**
- Specialized knowledge and demonstrated expertise in the area of comprehensive HIV and AIDS services which is necessary for strengthening service delivery at the national, provincial, district and facility/site level.
- Advanced knowledge of OVC, child and youth welfare and HIV programmes and activities/requirements related thereto.
- Demonstrated work experience and solid technical and administrative understanding of the South Africa health care delivery system including both public and private sector.
- Demonstrated written, presentation, and communication skills in English.
- Working knowledge in Good Clinical Practices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, Excel and

PowerPoint. o Experience in training, facilitation and material development.
- Report writing ability.
- Management/supervisory skills.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Risk management skills.
- Proficiency in isiXhosa/ isiZulu.
- Clean criminal record.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
