**Job description**

Bakery products are an exciting sector within the Food Industry offering interesting jobs and enabling socio-economically aware staff to be part of the food supply chain and take pride in that within a progressive company aspiring to high work standards.

We are now looking for:
**Production Shift Supervisors (Operations Supervisor) (Also for Packing)**

A shift consists of about 50 or more staff members operating various work stations within the production flow of rolls, bread and related products. The supervisor’s role is to organise, coordinate, direct, monitor, and guide the production flow as per production plan(s), and within the context of food safety, quality, efficiency benchmarks and effective plant/ equipment use.

The following KPAs are to be satisfied by the successful incumbent:
1. Production Plan Interpretation Effectiveness: Translating plans into production

2. Operational Production Effectiveness: Directing, guiding and coordinating flow

3. Use and State of Operations/ Production Plant & Equipment: Using & looking after plan and equipment with due consideration of impact

4. Quality Compliance & Consistency: Maintaining quality parameters for superior products

5. Food Safety Compliance & Consistency: Ensuring safe production environment management

6. Cost & Use of Materials Control Effectiveness: Ensuring optimal use of resources

7. Supervision/Staff Guidance Effectiveness: Creating a constructive and engaged work environment

8. Admin & Reporting Compliance: Ensuring administrative integrity in production processes

This requires both considerable production and baking process understanding, and a keen ability to learn and acquire in-depth understanding from a sound base of overall production process understanding.

We want to increasingly build a learning organisation, where all staff take ownership for their roles and become experts in their role/career path. It is thus important that the supervisor can add value to staff confidence and development.

**We will also consider **the following background:
3 month formal production of operations certificate/diploma, linked with at least 5 years production environment experience, with 2 years in a significant supervisory role, preferably in food production.

Someone with no formal qualification would require at least 8 years’ experience in a production environment, of which 3 years should have been in a significant team leader/supervisory role in a professional manufacturing environment preferably in the food industry.
