Junior Sea Freight Controller

Our client based in Montague Gardens in Cape Town is looking for a Junior Sea Freight Controller to join their dynamic team. **Key Responsibilities**:

- Shipment Coordination.
- Assist in coordinating sea freight shipments from origin to destination.
- Liaise with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure smooth execution of shipments.
- Prepare and process relevant shipping documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

**Scheduling**:

- Plan and schedule cargo pickups, deliveries, and vessel departures.
- Monitor vessel schedules and communicate any changes or delays to stakeholders promptly.

**Customs Clearance**:

- Collaborate with customs team to ensure compliance with import/export regulations.
- Facilitate the customs clearance process and resolve any related issues efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs procedures and requirements.

**Customer Service**:

- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Keep customers informed about the status of their shipments and provide regular updates.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.

**Documentation Management**:

- Organize and maintain accurate records of shipment details, including bills of lading, invoices, and packing lists.
- Verify the accuracy of documentation and ensure all necessary paperwork is complete and compliant.

**Problem Solving**:

- Identify and resolve operational challenges or discrepancies that may arise during the shipping process.
- Proactively troubleshoot issues to minimize disruptions and ensure on-time delivery of goods.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 3 years’ work experience in the freight forwarding industry, particularly in sea freight operations, is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced industry.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and procedures is an advantage.

Salary range depending on experience: R25000-R30000

Pay: R25 000,00 - R30 000,00 per month
