Paardeneiland, South Africa Smart Foods Full time

**Company Background**

At Smartfoods we are on a mission to build the fast food joint for the next generation, and disrupt the Fast-Food industry by helping consumers and restaurant owners to make better informed decisions, daily. #FIXFASTFOOD

**How do we do it?**

Run by its founders, we are a small team who have built a great business fast despite the worst possible market conditions. We believe this is a testament to the "Lean startup" methodology we follow.
- We build fast
- We experiment
- We learn
- And we start again

We run our Central Kitchen as a single supplier to its clients (“Our Restaurants”). The kitchen is run under the following principles:

- Produce food that is safe for our customers
- Supply food to our customers that is in time
- Manufacture food according to the exact recipes consistently
- Produce food profitably

We source, manufacture and distribute daily from our kitchen to our stores.

**Why Work For Us**

We want you to help us build our new kitchen and take responsibility for all operations at the kitchen. You will be responsible for all aspects in the kitchen and arguably the most important supplier and system in our business. As a management position you will be supported by the COO and the Head of Customer and will also look to you for guidance on ways to innovate and meet our 4 principles. We are looking for experienced individuals who have a passion for food and manufacturing and are comfortable working for a fast paced retail business managing a trained kitchen team.

Of course you do also get to eat the tastiest fast food around... We are biased...:

- )

**Our Culture**

We are passionate about the customer, food and our people. We work hard, and we expect a high level of commitment to that of any startup, but we also have fun and value family and life outside of work. Be comfortable and willing to take action as the leader of this department.

We are a small team, and a very flat structure so you would report directly to the COO.

- Procurement (With a dedicated procurement manager reporting to you)
- Manufacturing (With a dedicated manufacturing manager reporting to you)
- Distribution
- Health and Safety
- Equipment maintenance, supply and support
- Central Kitchen HR (Scheduling etc - HR performed by Head Office)
- Liaise direct with Head of Customer on quality audits
- LIaise direct with COO on performance

Lastly you will need to have very strong management skills and a desire to manage a scalable kitchen and be excited to grow with our business.

Proficiency in Excel or Google sheets is required, and any experience in retail, manufacturing and experience on Retail POS systems (GaaP/Lightspeed/TabletPOS) would be highly beneficial. **Our Hiring Process**

Should you be called for an assessment, you will be required to write a 30 minute logic test, and a 10 minute problem solving question. It's nothing that can be prepared for, and will not require any technical expertise. This will either be completed just before the interview or arranged for a separate time.

The interview itself will be relaxed and kept informal. We want to learn more about you, and of course you of us.

If successful we would then invite you to come discuss the offer, any details around this and answer any questions you may have.
