**PRIMARY PURPOSE**

Reporting directly to the Director Flight Operations who heads up Wilderness Air Aviation Management, you will be part of a professional team of experienced Aviation Managers with your particular job focus being liaison with the various regional Accountable Managers to whom contractual authority has been granted to ensure that all activities undertaken by the regional Wilderness Air AOC’s are carried out in accordance with valid Flight Operations Manuals in terms of the appropriate requirements prescribed by the applicable Civil Aviation Authorities and the relevant Wilderness Air, Air Service licenses.

This position can be based at any of our offices (Victoria Falls, Maun, Windhoek, Johannesburg or Cape Town)

**Detailed Responsibilities**
- Oversight of regional aviation compliance - aircraft, operations, training, airfields, maintenance - ensuring safe operational practices and airworthy aircraft.
- Oversight of regional quality assurance programs - establishment, implementation and maintenance thereof.
- Oversight and standardization on policies, procedures and reports.
- Legal liaison with Group Legal Counsel.
- Assistance on aviation strategy and efficiencies.
- General leadership and co-ordination of regional quality teams.
- Heads up regional quality action group sessions.
- Pivotal role in implementation liaison of Part 139 (aerodromes) across the regions.
- Manage preferred 3rd Party air charter suppliers - assessments, agreements and records.
- Key account relationship with insurance brokers / underwriters.
- Oversight on aircraft insurance policy management - claims etc.
- Assistance on aircraft CAPEX, R & M and general condition.
- Assistance on fleet enhancement / aircraft relocation / aircraft agreements.

**CANDIDATE PROFILE**

**Qualification:

- **
- Recognized Aviation Quality Management Systems or Quality Assurance Management Certificate inclusive of Aviation Auditing
- Acceptable Management Diploma/certificate or solid management experience (advantageous)
- Holding or have held at least a Commercial Pilots License (advantageous)
- Holding recognized Safety Management Systems certificate (advantageous)
- Holding a recognized Avsec Programme Management certificate (advantageous)

**Experience:

- **
- 15 years working experience in the aviation industry
- 10 years working experience in any combination of the recognized aviation **Post Holder** or **Monitoring Role** positions
- Experience in tourist charter type operations
- Experience in aircraft multi-type fleet management
- Work experience in several African countries (advantageous)
- Experience in multi-national and multi-cultural diversity (advantageous)

**Skills:

- **
- Exceptional knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulations (each applicable region’s CARs will become a requirement if successful).
- Broad operational knowledge and experience in the function of **_aviation_** organizational harmony including: accountability, flight operations, ground operations, training management, aircraft operations, aviation security, aerodrome operations and maintenance organization management.
- Sound knowledge of quality management principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of aviation risk and liability management.
