**JOB SUMMARY**
Our client is a leading and respected player in vessel construction and are looking to hire a Planning Manager who will be responsible for Materials planning department and the planning of inbound materials for supply Chain.

The successful applicant You will ensure that stock is available on a continuous basis to production and instruct procurement when to buy more material. You will ensure that you provide buying signals to the procurement department and that sufficient stock is available for production. The main customers of materials planning are the production plants and service levels is measured on OTIF into production.

**THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT**
- Minimum Qualifications: Degree/Btech (NQF6) in Supply Management or Business Management
- Ideal Qualifications: Honours Degree (NQF7) in Supply chain or Business Management
- Experience: 6-10 years in a manufacturing supply chain environment and 3 years in an inbound material planning role

COMPETENCIES:

- Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
- Proven track record of efficiency improvements, quality improvements and project management
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Materials planning specialist knowledge (working with 4000 plus sku’s)
- MRP systems (SysPro preferred)
- Manufacturing Operations knowledge
- Warehouse & logistics knowledge
- Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases
- Leadership skills and ability to manage staff
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Significant experience in Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma (5-S, Kaizen, Continuous Flow, Lead Time
Reduction, Value Stream Mapping, and Kanban)
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
- Must have solid communication and negotiation skills.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
The role responsibilities will include, (but not limited to):

- **Demand Plannin**g:Manage and update materials consumption forecast
- Ensure supplier forecast is updated and shared with procurement monthly
- Forecast the trends in product consumption to provide input to MRP
- **Inventory Management**:Ensure appropriate inventory parameters such as safety stocks, cycle stocks, lead times and re-order levels are in place and uploaded to SysPro
- Ensure MRP parameters are up to date and reflects current inventory management strategies
- Monitor and advise on bill of material accuracy
- **Materials Requirements Planning**:Ensure appropriate MRP processes are in place to generate procurement orders
- Ensure Airfreight orders are kept to a minimum
- Ensure processes are in place to avoid excess or obsolescent stock
- Validate purchase requisitions before sending for approval
- Approve expediting / de-expediting of inbound materials
- **Stakeholder Liaison**:Collaborate with the purchasing, procurement and logistics department to provide the right demand signals and track inbound shipments
- Collaborate with the warehouse to improve service delivery to production.
- Collaborate with production to ensure Bill-of-materials are accurate and production schedule is feasible
- Improve inbound visibility of materials supply across the business
- **Reports and Administration**:

- The planning manager will manage the following reports and administration:

- Planning Master Data Management
- Ensure the Bill-of-material Administration
- Ensure SARS compliance - management of the administration of rebate store
- Manage control and ensure that Projected Materials Working Capital Requirements, Projected Material
Shortages, Projected Excess Stock are monitored and reported on.
- Report on Short Term Material Risks
