**Position**
- Senior Manager: Operational Risk**Job Purpose**
- To develop, monitor and report on the implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework to comply to regulatory requirements and ensure alignment to international best practice.
- To coordinate the scenario analysis process, analysis, calculate and monitor operational risk Value at Risk, regulatory and economic capital.

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Deliverables**
- Embedding and enhancing Advanced Measurement Approach (AMA) requirements. Aligning operational risk management with group risk appetite framework.
- Improve the effectiveness and relevance of internal and external loss operational risk data through the analysis, interpretation and increased usage of operational risk data elements and benchmark against international best practice for improved operational risk practices.

**Operational Risk Appetite and Analysis**
- Leading the development, enhancements, maintenance, and analysis of operational risk appetite in line with the Operational Risk Management Framework and the groupwide Risk Appetite Framework.
- Coordinate the setting of operational risk appetite for the Group, client facing Clusters and operational risk event type
- Assist with recommendations on the inclusions to the operational risk appetite statement based on top/material risks identified including concentration risk based on ongoing monitoring and analysis of key trends
- Coordinate the assessment of root causes for operational risk appetite breaches, remediation action plans and track action plans to their conclusion.
- Provide oversight on the operational risk capital level, operational risk profile and risk appetite limits
- Drive the internal and external reporting of operational risk appetite to the various forums, committees, and other key stakeholders
- Identify, develop, and implement value adding operational risk data elements analysis to aid management decision making
- Coordinate the automation of operational risk across the group and ensure that operational risk appetite is adequately captured, monitored
- Liaise with key stakeholders to identify key themes, trends and insights from the operational risk data elements, business, and financial data

**Support Scenario Analysis process**
- Work with the Scenario Analysis Experts, Operational Risk Managers, and the Quantitative Analytics to ensure that the scenarios are valid, reasonable, and complete
- Develop business intelligence on the group’s scenario analysis process
- Support the scenario analysis process by providing independent assessments on the risk profile using various data elements including business and financial data.
- Support the scenario analysis workshops during the scenario analysis process

**Governance and Regulatory Requirements**
- Provide input into the enhancement of the ORMF methodologies, policies, processes and provide guidance through research to address operational risk challenges in Nedbank and its subsidiaries.
- Embedding and enhancing AMA requirements. Aligning operational risk management with group risk appetite framework and facilitating solutions for new products and services
- Improve the effectiveness and relevance of internal and external loss operational risk data through the analysis, interpretation and increased usage of operational risk data elements and benchmark against international best practice for improved operational risk practices
- Identify regulatory changes and potential future operational risk impacts through scanning of the business, regulatory and international environments to enable stakeholders to prepare for future potential operational risks.
- Prepare and present operational risk information (e.g., reviews of the ORMF, scenario analysis process etc.) to the Prudential Authority of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB PA), during on-site visits and/or providing input into operational risk reports and disclosures

**Collaboration**
- Develop productive relationships with internal clients, stakeholders, and peers
- Engage with clients and stakeholders and develop understanding of their need and requirements
- Provides understandable feedback to clients and stakeholders on Operational Risk Appetite and AMA modelling related aspects of the group’s operations
- Explain difficult concepts to clients and stakeholders
- Engage with peers to develop working relationship
