**Information Governance and Security (IGS)**

The IGS function within the Discovery Group aims to provide assurance that the organisation’s information assets are adequately protected against threats on a continual basis. This is achieved by finding the right balance of information security and business freedom.

**Key Purpose**

The IT Compliance Officer (ICO) position resides in the Risk and Compliance team, as part of the Information Governance and Security (IGS) department in Group Information Services (GIS). The function of the ICO is to support the Group Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), through the Head of Risk and Compliance, with all IT compliance control related functions. The ICO is responsible for managing of IT compliance risks by ensuring that the appropriate policies, procedures, standards, RACI charts and practices for conformance with the respective governance frameworks and mandatory legislation and regulations, are in place as defined. Accurate, complete and relevant reporting is a key function of this role.

**Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to**
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the IT Compliance programme for GIS.
- Maintain compliance risk management frameworks.
- Define, assess, maintain and advise on the regulatory universe.
- Develop and facilitate compilation and review of compliance risk management plans.
- Drafting, reviewing and vetting of Policies, Standards, Processes, Methodologies, Procedures and/or any other relevant documentation.
- Collaboration with Group Compliance and other business areas on Frameworks pertinent for Groupwide implementation.
- Conduct compliance monitoring to ensure IT compliance posture improvement.
- Compile and submit internal and external compliance reports.
- Interact with industry regulators, supervisors and stakeholders, as and when required.
- Provides consultation to internal management.
- Perform IT compliance training and awareness.
- In conjunction with Group Legal and Group Compliance, assist in the identification of applicable laws and regulations and assist with the implementation of actions to ensure compliance.

Support additional internal and external compliance activities as part of the IGS department.

**Education and Experience**
- 5+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- Working knowledge of and/or experience with IT Risk, Governance and Compliance.
- LLB, Bcom Informatics/BSc in Information Systems or Computer Science or related degree
- Risk-related industry-standard qualifications including but not limited to, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CPRAC or CGEIT.
- Objective documentation, reporting and attention to business report writing.
- Post-graduate qualification in Compliance Management (advantageous).
- Experience in compliance frameworks for Information Security, Compliance and IT Governance Standards: ISO27001/2, ISO31000, COBIT, King IV, NIST and ITIL.
- Strong risk assessment/audit capabilities with hands on experience in many technologies and platforms across a broad range of industries.
