**Main purpose of the job**:

- To Conduct and implement the protocol for the CRC FIT trial, provide support and facilitate the recruitment and follow-up with patients

**Location**:

- **Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Recruitment, screening, and follow-up_
- Conduct pre-study entry nursing evaluation for potential participants & offer clinical care to study participants, with the study doctor
- Obtain participant’s informed consent before the commencement of any study-related activities
- Assist with the follow-up of participants, including conducting follow-up visits via telephone when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality of all participants’ study information
- Conduct Clinical Assessments_
- Conduct baseline interviews with participants using the study survey tool
- Assist in all clinical aspects of the study, including venepuncture, stool, and urine sample collection
- Ensure that all study procedures are carried out within the Hospital’s and Sponsor’s policies, research governance, Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials Regulations) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006 Incorporating International Conference on Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) Data Protection Act and Human Tissue Act
- Record accurately all data obtained throughout the study and maintain all data and case report forms, both paper and electronic
- Administration_
- Contribute to the day-to-day management of the study, ensuring compliance with international standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), with the Site PI and Senior Research Clinician
- Assist in the preparation of study materials
- Participate in the training and induction of all new members of the team, and support appropriate training and development opportunities in line with role requirements
- Ensure that records are kept in regard to study recruitment, screening, losses to the study, and enrolment
- Effective self-management and performance ownership_
- Ensure that the clinical team adheres to the set standard operating procedures in the conduct of the trial
- The recruitment/accrual targets are being met and proper source documentation procedures are followed
- Act as a leader, resource, and role model within the team
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Site PI

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Professional/Enrolled Nurse qualification**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **Minimum 1-year nursing experience in clinical trials**

**Professional body registration**:

- **South African Nursing Council (SANC)**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Certification in good clinical practice
- Experience working in a research environment
- Ordered and systematic with strict compliance to protocols
- Tactful, respectful, and able to maintain confidentiality
- Good administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Redcap
- Pro-active and adaptable
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
