Construction Project Director with minimum 5 years’ Director level experience and minimum 17 years’ construction project management experience, specific to highway and bridge construction project, required to oversee the planning and execution of a Bridge Construction Project based in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

You will be responsible for the successful completing of projects within the budget, on schedule and in accordance with quality standards.

**Minimum requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer registered with ECSA or equivalent internationally recognized registration.
- Minimum of 17 years’ experience in planning and managing construction projects, with at least 5 years at a senior Director/ Construction management level.
- Extensive experience in highway and bridge construction projects is essential.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a focus on motivating and developing project teams.
- Thorough understanding of construction processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in project management software and MS Office suite.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Honours or Master's degree in Construction Management or related field.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- Experience working on international projects or in multicultural environments.
- Knowledge of relevant software tools for scheduling, cost estimation, and building information modelling (BIM).
- Familiarity with legal requirements and regulations related to construction projects in the relevant jurisdiction.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan and manage the construction of major civil engineering projects, with a primary focus on highway and bridge construction.
- Oversee all aspects of project execution, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and quality control.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, motivating them to deliver high-quality work within established deadlines.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to monitor project status and address any issues that may arise.
- Prepare and present project reports, including financial updates, to senior management and stakeholders.
- Manage contractual agreements and resolve any disputes or claims that may arise during the construction process.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the project team.
