**Job Description**:

- The General Accounting Supervisor will be positioned to support General Accounting Coordinator in delivering timely, accurate and complete financial information to stakeholders. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting a robust control environment. To ensure delivery of in-scope statutory and general accounting activities to Anglo American business units (EMEA).

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Responsibility for month-end close activities
- Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet by reviewing general ledger balance sheet reconciliations investigate and report on financial discrepancies and overdue items
- Review and approval of journal processing and adhering to control compliance
- Review and submit all relevant statutory and regulatory returns performed by the accounting team
- Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisations to drive value and minimise the cost
- Team supervision, coaching, performance management, training and succession planning. Participating in setting and achieving individual performance and development objectives to support a high performing culture
- Engage with appropriate stakeholders to deliver on SLA’s
- Quality review of all deliverables (deadline management)
- Drive adherence to safety
- Any other tasks as and when required

**This role is at a Band 7 level reporting to the General Accounting Coordinator**
- Qualifications
- BCOM Accounting Degree or equivalent 3-year tertiary qualification from recognised institution
- Member of a recognised accounting body. (Recommended)
- Accounting Honours (desired)

**Experience**:

- 5 Years Financial Reporting/Management Accounting experience
- 3 Years People management experience

**Technical Skills Required**:

- Finance
- Tax
- IFRS
- Exposure to Accounting Systems
