**Position Summary**
- To execute the category strategy and achieve category financial targets; by focusing on areas of Improved Cost/Quality/Supply
- To create product differentiation and innovation to increase market share and profitability.
- To reduce input costs by sourcing alternative product and managing supplier performance; through a Category Specific Vendor Management Plan
- To manage replenishment (OTIF) for the category.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement a category plan for specific product ranges to deliver reduced cost of goods i.e. increase category margin.
- Assume responsibility of category budget.
- Actively cultivate, develop and maintain supplier relationships/partnerships; including managing of Supplier Performance.
- Negotiate favourable trading terms with new suppliers and improve these with current suppliers, where possible.
- Ensure supplier performance, including communication and impact of new product development or new product launches and improvements.
- Source new suppliers for future products lines across local and international supply markets.
- Own the sourcing and development of exclusive products thereby creating product differentiation and innovation that will increase market share and profitability for business.
- Regularly review category performance indicators, such as sales, margin and promo quantification, keeping the business updated on financial performance versus market and plan.
- Conduct range reviews, predict future trends and review competitor activity.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including marketing and sales and freight forwarders for effective delivery of the operating plan.
- Generate and expedite purchase orders to ensure on-time-in-full (OTIF) deliveries for the category using our ERP Business Operating System and inventory management system.

**Education & Experience Requirements**
- A minimum NQF Level 5 in procurement or supply chain
- At least 2 - 4 years Category Management experience
- At least 2 years exposure to international trade (shipping / incoterms / Foreign Exchange)
- Supplier relationship management
- Market trends and competitor analysis
- Margin Management
- Strong Financial/Business acumen with a trading mindset
- An understanding of Foreign Exchange and freight costs implications on product landing costs.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Experience with local and global supplier networks (transactional and strategic).
- Planning and organisational skills
- Competency in relevant IT systems i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
- Verbal and written communication
- Problem solving and analytical thinking.
