We at RCL FOODS are in search for an **Assistant Product Development Manager** to join our **Siqalo **Division. The role will be based in **Boksburg **and report to the **R&D Product Development Manager. **RCL FOODS is looking for an incumbent to manage the research, planning, coordination and execution of:
New product development
Product Quality improvements
Cost-saving initiatives
Product and technical support From concept brief to product launch

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Strategy Into Action**
Actively research and understand the latest market trends, competitor activity, operational knowledge, and processes.
Drive understanding through trade visits and supplier engagements.

**New Product Development**:
Manage the project brief scope with multi-disciplinary teams to understand requirements and deliverables needed per project
Execute the product brief according to project scope requirements. (Trials, product samples, tastes sessions, specification management, product analysis - shelf life/Nutritionals etc).
Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams including relevant external and internal stakeholders - supplier briefs and pre-trial meetings.
Determine the impact that the current and/or new materials, machine requirements, process flows, labour compliments, throughputs etc have on costs.

**Product and quality Cost saving**:
Identify and investigate product quality improvements and cost savings initiatives.
Manage activities regarding the feasibility of product quality improvements and cost savings initiatives.
Collect and record data to provide insights on the current and/or new materials, machine requirements, process flows, labour compliments and throughput, etc.

**Team coordination and self-management**:
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities.
Demonstrate self-drive and effective self-management.
Drive and actively participate in regular performance appraisals and ensure that
own target and goals are relevant, clear and achievable.
Develop and drive achievement of personal individual development plans.
Champion training and development of self and others through utilising available
training opportunities.
Support and drive the business core values.

**Technical Expertise and insight**
Provide expertise in project team meetings and recommend solutions based
On technically sound insight and research.
Provide practical expertise and insights to internal clients as part of regular engagement and/or ad hoc requests.

**Customer Relationship Management (Internal)**
Drives technical customer service through KPI and efficiency achievement.
Engage regularly with customers regarding issues and requirements and effectively address areas where customer needs are unmet.

**Operations management**
Ensure effective use of raw material into recipe formulations.

**Compliance Management**
Champion the adherence to all legislative and industry standards.
Manages actions where required to ensure that there are no areas of non-complaint.

**Minimum Requirements**:
Formal Degree/Diploma in food science or technical degree in a related field
Valid drivers license

**Minimum requirement**
Minimum three years experience in product development in FMCG (food industry preferred)
Experience in fats, oils, and emulsions is an added advantage
Sensory experience added advantage
Stakeholder management and project network skills
Must be organized and hard working
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Meticulous attention to detail, especially with regard to food hygiene and safety
Must be a team player
